he didn't have brain shenanigans, so he has no attachment to this place in terms of feeling he belongs here over somewhere else. he's just listening to these people tell him this world is bad, they're right and -- it's a lot of demands from people who mean nothing to him. so he just frowns, taking it all in.
and then frowns more when the woman mentions the shadow dousing, and he can only assume that's the experience they had before maybe. the shadows, the way things had emerged from them, doused and rotting in the darkness. it's too convenient for that to have happened to them and then for these two people to appear here like this...? ]

[ and then there's monsters wearing the faces of people they know and that slow, deep settlement in his bones that they're going to have to fight their way out of here. like he had to fight for his life -- only not, not really -- just a moment ago.
there's a curl of anger that spaks through him seeing who this guy is using to try and get to them. aside from the doppelgangers, he's seen at one of the last three faces since he's been on the eudora.

either way, she has been jumpscared with her girlfriend one too many times already. she's done. it helps that lucien and viktor's lookalikes are down there as well. she takes one look at them and knows this is another cheap trick. it's infuriating.
anyway-- she's going to do a few things here:
one, she's going to use the not!gun to turn shouxue's weapon into a crit hit machine, or however that works.
two, she's going to start twerking for uhhh (rolls a 2 in a d5) fantasy jesus apparently to hype eunhyuk up. go, enhyuk, go. get out of that fridge. feel extra holy when you cast that light spell.]

they're both obnoxious in different ways. when the monsters(?) appear, shouxue blanches. the purple gunk form all of them.... they're in pain and they need to be taken out.

and then she will notch and loose 3 arrows in succession (i actually don't know how many arrows viktor stole for her?) at gaojun's head (15). ]
castti gives all of you a heal that asks for it, so - all of you, ig. it's a concoction she makes for you all that makes it so that you're able to fight well enough for the time being, but she warns you that it's limited. you have a couple of rounds to do this before your bodies just collapse entirely. you can have the plums too for your magic!
(don't worry you'll have all of your injuries when you leave it's fine it's fine)
so: first, viktor scrutinizes the two of them. he can manage to see that both of them have these little red Xs over their weaknesses boxes. you get the impression that this means they cannot be attacked with any amount of efficiency until some other thing is achieved...
still. shu does in fact shoot claude in the nuts with an arrow, though, and it does critical damage because shu rolled a [20] and we cannot pass this up. claude stumbles, but stands back up, scowling. he also shoots a random monster person in the neck, but it doesn't seem to do a whole lot [10] coming from him...
eunhyuk casts holy light! with a [12], he can manage to take a decent chunk of flesh out of the monster eunyoo. as he does, she... glitches, slightly? she changes. for a second, there's the image of a man, cutting in and out with blue flame, and then it's her again. she wails - it seems like the fact that eunhyuk specifically hit her did... more damage? the boost from harley seems to help a little bit.
viktor casts ignis ardere - his flames hit yuri, ivy, and... lucien, but with a [2], he accidentally hits the real one with a stupidly powerful fire spell. sorry lucien (real).
lucien is set on fire! but as he experiences the avatar state, he manages to get a swipe in on viktor, lucien (unreal) and xia goujun. they take damage, but not very much - except for viktor. when he stabs viktor, he screams, and it sounds very, very real. it sounds like the real one. with a [12] it's kind of just a shoulder stab, but hey.
harley twerks and i am so proud of her. she also crits shouxue's arrows, which:
shouxue fucking obliterates gaojun with her arrows. all three ram directly into the horrible monster's face, and it makes an unholy screaming sound that echoes across the cave. gaojun falls to the ground, coughing up that purple gunk. it looks like she did extra damage to this... creature.]

but while she twerks for eunhyuk, she also starts to weave some acrobatic moves into her dance. a somersault here. a spin there. she darts forward, light on her feet and steady in her rhythm, and slashes at the creature wearing ivy's face with her dagger [3]. :face_holding_back_tears:
ALSO she is using allure [16] to try and get (throws dart) yuri on their side, so they'll aggro on the other clones. unless yuri is already down, then whoever is second closest.]
eunhyuk, you cast a holy light spell at the monster, but with a [2], it backfires. it splutters, like you're not going to be able to cast at all, and then abruptly it bursts in your face and covers you in light burns. you are going to be roasted like a (refrigerator) turkey. however, with harley's assist on a 13, some of the light reroutes and hits eunyoo again. she shrieks and staggers backwards, covering her face.
viktor looks extremely apologetic at lucien for setting him on fire and then proceeds to hit him with another magic missile, only this time he realizes his mistake halfway through and jerks his staff to the side. when he does, one of them zooms back and slices through one of his hands. clean off, there it goes, goodbye. yeet.
lucien: you can in fact hp steal! with an [11] you get 11 hitpoints. you now have 12. the fake viktor shrieks again, and wobbles, knife to the gut as you pull his life energy out of him into yourself. romantic. and then you take like four magic missiles to the back and are at 1 hit point again.
harley, your ass shaking is iconic and your bad rolls are chronic but thankfully you had a reroll in there somewhere. ivy dodges out of the way of your dagger with ease [3], moving like a broken, fucked up ragdoll, but the good news is that your twerking helps eunhyuk and yuri like. [16] thinks you're the coolest person she's ever met in her life. the zombie yuri considers bisexuality. she then decides to be toxic and leaps on ivy with a shadowy weapon you can't really see.
shouxue, our queen, absolutely brilliantly stabs gaojun directly in the chest [18]. goopy, awful shadow spurts out and his body melts into the temple ground, turning to ashes, and then to nothing. you feel like you hear a weird click noise, and two of claude's weaknesses unlock. dagger and lightning. as you jump out of the way to avoid getting hit, your vision wavers dangerously. hey remember how you were going blind earlier? that's still a problem!
claude seems more bored than irritated by this turn of events, but his 'unlocked weakness' makes him grin at all of you in this awful, lecherous way. he rocks to his feet.
arcanette, meanwhile, seems to be counting between the zombie figures. eenie... meenie... miney...
and then she lands on the figure of the shadow lucien. mo! and snaps her fingers. the shadow lucien drops to the ground, suddenly, writhing and screaming. you see its figure - change, again, that blue flame wreathed man from before. not the asshole you know but the brown haired one. and then that figure lets out a noise, and says something.
Cannot... trust... No longer...exist....
and then the shadow lucien's body starts to warp and change. bones crack as it begins to grow, as it bends over and its ribs and spine lurch out from its back - and what stands before you, towering, now, as opposed to a simple shadowy version of you, but the slavering awful form of
this new friend!

he casts lightning! the lightning spell is bright and sharp and completely misses claude entirely. he doesn’t even dodge it. it just kind of pathetically fizzles. but then lucien, who is so tired of watching viktor viktor, slaps him with a piece of paper. you’d think this does nothing, but viktor suddenly feels emboldened by the spirit of an incredibly rich, fabulous man. [AUTOSUCCESS]
he casts lightning, and this time, it’s a direct hit on claude, crashing into him. he shivers as the electricity works through his system, visibly, like he enjoyed it. this guy.
lucien is feeling rejuvenated now - he stabs shadow viktor because he fucking finally didn't get hit by a fire spell and successfully steals [13] HP. yummy. shadow viktor is starting to look pretty rough.
with harley’s toxic jig, shoxue’s shot manages to hit the big monster on arcanette’s side. this guy’s pretty big, so he’s not too hard to hit. it takes damage from shoxue’s shot normally - in fact, you can tell it doesn’t like that, and it shudders miserably… perhaps it might be super effective.
additionally - shouxue, with a 13, i’ll allow you to try to listen to the creature’s thoughts and talk to it. you can hear it gurgling in pain, and its gurgles and growls are garbled - messy, miserable. you think there’s some shade of lucien still, maybe, but the voice that is there just miserably repeats, … cannot…trust…Church… no longer…exist… sorry….hurts…. it hurts…. Temen…os…hurts…sorry…
the yuri monster is still battling ivy, but she uh. rolls really poorly with a [3] and a [5]. the ivy zombie stabs her in the leg. ouchie. i rolled for shu, who shoots another arrow and hits the yuri monster, who wails unhappily but still seems to be on y’alls side. that twerking was immaculate. harley, with your 13 - your wind magic pretty much just bounces off the new friend.

eunhyuk, you cast a holy light spell at the monster, but with a [2], it backfires. it splutters, like you're not going to be able to cast at all, and then abruptly it bursts in your face and covers you in light burns. you are going to be roasted like a (refrigerator) turkey. however, with harley's assist on a 13, some of the light reroutes and hits eunyoo again. she shrieks and staggers backwards, covering her face.
viktor looks extremely apologetic at lucien for setting him on fire and then proceeds to hit him with another magic missile, only this time he realizes his mistake halfway through and jerks his staff to the side. when he does, one of them zooms back and slices through one of his hands. clean off, there it goes, goodbye. yeet.
lucien: you can in fact hp steal! with an [11] you get 11 hitpoints. you now have 12. the fake viktor shrieks again, and wobbles, knife to the gut as you pull his life energy out of him into yourself. romantic. and then you take like four magic missiles to the back and are at 1 hit point again.
harley, your ass shaking is iconic and your bad rolls are chronic but thankfully you had a reroll in there somewhere. ivy dodges out of the way of your dagger with ease [3], moving like a broken, fucked up ragdoll, but the good news is that your twerking helps eunhyuk and yuri like. [16] thinks you're the coolest person she's ever met in her life. the zombie yuri considers bisexuality. she then decides to be toxic and leaps on ivy with a shadowy weapon you can't really see.
shouxue, our queen, absolutely brilliantly stabs gaojun directly in the chest [18]. goopy, awful shadow spurts out and his body melts into the temple ground, turning to ashes, and then to nothing. you feel like you hear a weird click noise, and two of claude's weaknesses unlock. dagger and lightning. as you jump out of the way to avoid getting hit, your vision wavers dangerously. hey remember how you were going blind earlier? that's still a problem!
claude seems more bored than irritated by this turn of events, but his 'unlocked weakness' makes him grin at all of you in this awful, lecherous way. he rocks to his feet.
arcanette, meanwhile, seems to be counting between the zombie figures. eenie... meenie... miney...
and then she lands on the figure of the shadow lucien. mo! and snaps her fingers. the shadow lucien drops to the ground, suddenly, writhing and screaming. you see its figure - change, again, that blue flame wreathed man from before. not the asshole you know but the brown haired one. and then that figure lets out a noise, and says something.
Cannot... trust... No longer...exist....
and then the shadow lucien's body starts to warp and change. bones crack as it begins to grow, as it bends over and its ribs and spine lurch out from its back - and what stands before you, towering, now, as opposed to a simple shadowy version of you, but the slavering awful form of
this new friend!

he casts lightning! the lightning spell is bright and sharp and completely misses claude entirely. he doesn’t even dodge it. it just kind of pathetically fizzles. but then lucien, who is so tired of watching viktor viktor, slaps him with a piece of paper. you’d think this does nothing, but viktor suddenly feels emboldened by the spirit of an incredibly rich, fabulous man. [AUTOSUCCESS]
he casts lightning, and this time, it’s a direct hit on claude, crashing into him. he shivers as the electricity works through his system, visibly, like he enjoyed it. this guy.
lucien is feeling rejuvenated now - he stabs shadow viktor because he fucking finally didn't get hit by a fire spell and successfully steals [13] HP. yummy. shadow viktor is starting to look pretty rough.
with harley’s toxic jig, shoxue’s shot manages to hit the big monster on arcanette’s side. this guy’s pretty big, so he’s not too hard to hit. it takes damage from shoxue’s shot normally - in fact, you can tell it doesn’t like that, and it shudders miserably… perhaps it might be super effective.
additionally - shouxue, with a 13, i’ll allow you to try to listen to the creature’s thoughts and talk to it. you can hear it gurgling in pain, and its gurgles and growls are garbled - messy, miserable. you think there’s some shade of lucien still, maybe, but the voice that is there just miserably repeats, … cannot…trust…Church… no longer…exist… sorry….hurts…. it hurts…. Temen…os…hurts…sorry…
the yuri monster is still battling ivy, but she uh. rolls really poorly with a [3] and a [5]. the ivy zombie stabs her in the leg. ouchie. i rolled for shu, who shoots another arrow and hits the yuri monster, who wails unhappily but still seems to be on y’alls side. that twerking was immaculate. harley, with your 13 - your wind magic pretty much just bounces off the new friend.
the big new monster friend takes a command from arcanette. it whips its head back and takes a bite out of viktor. man sorry viktor your dice luck is so bad even my rng of who gets bitten by longneck big guy over here decided to pick you ]
