[ ganymede is, in fact, in the lounge easy peasy! they're actually seated with their back to the more comfortable seating, though, and is instead perched on a bench while facing the great expanse of space while they tap at something on their I.R.I.S.
when mizuki is close enough, there's a calm vibe here. ]
[ in response to her saying she's great company, a ΛΆα΅ α΅ α΅ΛΆ pops up on their visor before it blips out again. ]
You seem like you would be! [ scoots to make sure she has room. ] I can't say this part is going to be super interesting to look at, since it's a lot of graphs and data, but I'm just running the diagnostics for life support and gravity right now.
Doesn't it? But I can break it down to hopefully make it more interesting.
[ they like their job, and also space. ]
Life support, to me, can be broken down into four categories. Air, water, power, and gravity. We can get by without gravity, sure, but it definitely makes things difficult to do.
I told Mr. Ragnvindr this, but I'll tell you, too. From experience? You can control it from your I.R.I.S. if you get stuck in a sim where you can't find the actual door, or the anti-grav kicks on. Save your dignity like mine wasn't.
[ there's humor in the autotune, though, so they aren't that upset about it. ]
It is, yeah. The good news is that we have so many failsafes in place for air, water, and power that it's like a trapeze artist with three dozen safety nets under them. Even if the first one snaps if they fall, there's plenty more in place to catch them. It means we have a good bit of notice when something goes wrong.
The gravity is a little different, but it still has a pretty decent number of failsafes in place.
Better than having to send out an SOS and have your crewmates make fun of you for a week.
[ again, they are not that embarrassed about it. it's a muted fondness and amusement, instead, so it's nice bonding. ]
It would take a lot. The chance isn't zero, as they say, but it's extremely low that something would happen to affect us that badly. The weapons system is mostly for taking potshots at asteroids and bigger space debris, so we don't really have any outside collisions that we need to worry about there. Callisto is so on top of their maintenance that it's a little moot sometimes.
[ wow everything is fine? there's another blip of amusement, but ganymede doesn't say anything, since mizuki hasn't said it aloud. that's invasive. their thoughts remain an enigma in contrast. ]
They can be a little intense lately, but they took their promotion very seriously. They're good at what they do though.
Nah, they can still be friendly. Buuut... I dunno, I told myself a long time ago that no matter how much work I've got to do, I still want to make time for the other people in my life, too.
I think normally it should be the other way around..? [ the presumed adult telling the teenager this kind of thing. ] I promise to do my best, Mizuki, if you will too.
I'll make sure to stay caught up, so that it's not something you have to worry about. Which is part of why I like this shadowing idea - means I can spend time with and get to know you guys, and get work done.
Yeah, the situation's not great but the company is good. I like the other seven, but the past month has been pretty quiet with just the eight of us and some places even closed off to us. We can still reach some areas via access tunnels, but they're a long walk and it's not really a comfortable fit for me in some of them.
[ they're not, like, massive like sidon. but they are not a small person. ]
Just the past month, as a skeleton crew between tours. We had 20 other crewmates before there were transfers, promotions, and retirements spread throughout the two months we worked with them. We kind of inherited the Eudora.
W0 MONDAY

How're you getting along today, Mizuki?

[ Poking around a lot. Chilling. Talking... ]
Word on the street is that you're interested in a little socializing.

[ a shrug of a shoulder ]
I'm easily the most sociable of the four you met yesterday, so I'm glad to have company while I'm working. But I'm glad to hear it.

[ And so, Mizuki invites herself to take a seat nearby. ]
Not to mention I am veeery interested in seeing what goes on around here.

Now here's to hoping the likelihood of something going wrong is very, very low.

They seem kind of serious about everything, huh?

That's a good philosophy to have, I think. Smart, too, considering the things you miss out on if you just throw yourself into work and nothing else.
