The thought goes unsaid—unfortunately for Mizuki, it projects aloud anyway, not that she realizes it. ]

They seem kind of serious about everything, huh?

[ wow everything is fine? there's another blip of amusement, but ganymede doesn't say anything, since mizuki hasn't said it aloud. that's invasive. their thoughts remain an enigma in contrast. ]

They can be a little intense lately, but they took their promotion very seriously. They're good at what they do though.

[psynchroneyes]

Workaholics are a different kind, that's for sure.

[dropoffs]

I can be pretty guilty of being a workaholic, too, but I don't let it stop me from being friendly.

[psynchroneyes]

Nah, they can still be friendly. Buuut... I dunno, I told myself a long time ago that no matter how much work I've got to do, I still want to make time for the other people in my life, too.

[dropoffs]

[ quietly warm vibe ]

That's a good philosophy to have, I think. Smart, too, considering the things you miss out on if you just throw yourself into work and nothing else.

Yeah, I had an example of what not to do once. Sooo, don't end up like that, alright?

[dropoffs]

I think normally it should be the other way around..? [ the presumed adult telling the teenager this kind of thing. ] I promise to do my best, Mizuki, if you will too.

Hey, I'm full of great life advice. [ Heh! ] You don't have to worry about that, though—already one step ahead of you.

I'll make sure to stay caught up, so that it's not something you have to worry about. Which is part of why I like this shadowing idea - means I can spend time with and get to know you guys, and get work done.

Win/win situation.

Heh, I bet it'd get boring around here otherwise. There's not a whole lot to walk out to yet.

[dropoffs]

Yeah, the situation's not great but the company is good. I like the other seven, but the past month has been pretty quiet with just the eight of us and some places even closed off to us. We can still reach some areas via access tunnels, but they're a long walk and it's not really a comfortable fit for me in some of them.

[ they're not, like, massive like sidon. but they are not a small person. ]

How long has it just been you guys? You've had to have had more on board before, right?

[dropoffs]

[ she could stand behind ganymede and disappear ]

Just the past month, as a skeleton crew between tours. We had 20 other crewmates before there were transfers, promotions, and retirements spread throughout the two months we worked with them. We kind of inherited the Eudora.

[psynchroneyes]

A month... Well, that's not too bad. Gives you time to prepare for a new set of total newbies.

[dropoffs]

We didn't get too much notice of you guys before we got you. We'd only had you for a couple of days before dethaw, but only a few more days before that did we get the message to pick you up.

[psynchroneyes]

[ .... "dethaw"................. ]

So, uh. Two days? Is that how long we were stashed like frozen chickens in there?

[dropoffs]

they do seem apologetic for it, at least. ]

Closer to three, but we were trying to make sure you exited cryostasis safely and we had all of your dockets. Thought it was all above board.

[psynchroneyes]

[ Much as she attempts to suppress a shudder, it's not entirely hidden. ]

That's kind of freaky to think about... But I guess I still feel mostly normal.

[dropoffs]

[ they don't blame her, even if they're used to it. ]

That's good. Most... I don't want to call them side effects? That makes it sound - [ eughhh noise ] - but I think everything that's been reported so far has been a result of the nanites suppressing powers and magic, things like that. It'll wear off once they get used to everyone and register those aren't anomalies.

[psynchroneyes]

Oh, good. I don't wanna be a wet noodle anymore...

[dropoffs]

I'm sure you can still throw a mean punch, even when you're not at full power. [ encouraging! ]

[psynchroneyes]

Yeah, I gotta test that out. But it feels weird that I can't pick up what I usually could.

[dropoffs]

Maybe not right now, but I'd be glad to work through it with you. [ tilts head ] What can you usually do?

I'm pretty damn strong! You know, normally.
