ROLE β SECURITY PATROL π¦
SECURITY PATROL
welcome, crewmate shu.
Early in the day on TUESDAY, Shu will hear the familiar ping of the I.R.I.S. at his wrist; the moment that he lifts up his hand to check what the noise is for, a window immediately pops up. The projection fills in a spread of blue, and a message sent only to his designation loads in the window.
I have something of a job for you. Pick a location to set up an off-network camera, to catch anything in the area; if the system is going to pull a stunt on us again, we can certainly work smarter, not harder.
If it does, meet me in the morning after the lockdown ends. I've updated some of your credentials so you should be able to get up before anyone else. We can go get the camera, maybe squeeze in a second location before we have to lock down everything and everyone's awake.

ADRASTEA
Come FRIDAY, early in the morning, a message notification sounds again. It's loud enough that it rouses him from a very groggy sleep before anyone else. No one else even twitches at the sound or the blue light, and there's nobody in the halls the moment Shu steps outside, so might as well head to the location that pops up - right?
It indicates where Shu needs to go to meet Adrastea. The walk there is eerie, and lit only by the emergency lights of the ship - a sickly, golden orange in a strip that barely brightens the dark corners. The senior officer can be found easily there, spinning something almost absently around one finger, the other hand cupping their elbow. Once Shu is close enough, they stop spinning the item in their possession and instead toss it at him for him to catch.
It's a flashlight, one with a strap on the end. Huh. Pretty useful, considering the darkness that surrounds them.
Adrastea taps a flashlight of their own against their shoulder, something serious but enigmatic in their filtered voice as their helmet remains blank, only a faint, cool blue glow just barely visible from within. "Let's go."

RULES
As the role responsible for security patrols, along with the information that is acquired on patrol, Shu is expected to follow a few rules:
1. For now, keep your new designation a secret. Should this designation be shared with anyone without prior authorization, consequences and termination of position are possible. This can be revisited at a later date.
β³ As of w2, you can share your role with ONE non-role person.
2. You may use your knowledge during trial to guide, suggest, or prioritize investigations. If you otherwise distribute any information acquired, it must be done anonymously or without referencing the true source. This can be revisited at a later date.
3. Each week, Security Patrol can do the following:
πΉ A. one location can be chosen on Tuesday; this location is where the role can place a video camera, completely separate from the Eudora's system, which is tamperproof and will remain hidden until retrieved.
β³ As of w3, you can place TWO cameras in separate locations.
π B. a second location can be chosen Friday, with two chances to pick again if your choice doesn't get a hit; this is the location which can be investigated before the curfew lockdown is lifted and crime scenes are marked restricted areas prior to being locked down.
Currently, junior crew capsules require a valid explanation as to why you want to check or monitor them, and senior crew capsules are off limits. Anywhere else that has been unlocked on the Eudora is fair game.
4. While patrolling on Friday before lockdown lifts, 1 piece of evidence can be retrieved from the location that you visit. Choose wisely.
β³ As of w3, there is a chance to increase this to TWO pieces of evidence depending on the investigation.
β οΈ If Security Patrol finds a dead body, this does not count towards the pieces of evidence that can be retrieved, regardless of whether it's physically located or found in their video log. Adrastea will ensure that the body is brought to trial first thing to give the crew a head start.
5. Once you have completed your patrol, you can choose whether to share the recording (if there is one) anonymously on the public network. If you share it privately, the source of it cannot be revealed at this time.

WEEK 2
SELECTION: CAMERA LOCATION (DUE TUESDAY)

RESULTS
anyways, the following can be seen entering and milling around the concession area until you all go to the actual showing room:
- Harley and her hyneas
- Sora
- Mizuki
- Shoma and Roboji
- Charles
- Shouxue
- Diluc, bearded
off to watch the glory of shrek you go, and for a while... that's it. but 12:30 hits, and then 1:30 follows - the doors to the multiplex are open again, and a figure leaves in a hurry. it's hard to make out with only the emergency lights for illumination, but this time it's at least easier to see that it's a smaller figure that exits before eventually coming back, after you fastforward enough to get to their return.
the last thing you see, eventually, is yourself exiting to meet adrastea. you may discuss the results here if you like! ]

shu just looks up at the ceiling for a moment ]
Iβve really got to stop sleeping where I put the camera.

[ sounding fascinated by this, in a way, but it's not a good way. ]

[ he'll keep the gift of prophecy if apollo lets him stay in a quiet room. ]
no subject
At least this particular suspect pool is much smaller, given the fact that we can make out the figure coming and going a bit better. Narrowing it down from the group of you in the multiplex further will help.

SELECTION: INVESTIGATION (DUE THURSDAY)

TALK TO ADRASTEA
surrounded by a bunch of fluffy tails. once he comes to join them, they reach up to their helmet to take it off. ]
no subject
Brought the camera for you. Any ideas, this week?
[ becks: shocked yet again ]
no subject
One of the new places again? Pattern so farβs had most of us congregating the newer areas each week.

adrastea holds up the glass of shu's preferred/now-programmed drink to him, glowy eyes dropping down to the fluffy around his waist briefly before looking back up at him. she did promise to show him that her eyes were fine, so, here she is. ]
So far. And we're all creatures of curiosity and habit.

So, if you were junior crew expecting to kill, be killed or know someone who did either of the former, where would you pitch your tent for the night?
no subject
I don't know if I'd pitch my tent there, considering it might be asking for trouble if it wasn't just me released like the hounds, but I'm sure someone would consider the combat room. Even if there's mostly non-lethal weapons, for practice... there's still enough in there that could bludgeon someone's head in.
no subject
For weapons, yeah. I just need to figure out whether I think narrowing down the suspect list like last week is more helpful, or whether seeing something happening in the moment is better. The footage we got from the camera was helpful but not for specifics like height or who it could be.
[ hmmm. ] If I was thinking of focusing on that, Iβd maybe look at the multiplex as itβd be a comfortable location to rest in. Either way, Iβd know who I didnβt need to focus on if a potential future killer didnβt appear on screen.

FRIDAY INVESTIGATION
COMBAT ROOM
inside, he will find... nodd and dion! what an interesting combination - it looks like no one else is here? ] Just a date night, then.
[ dry humor to deal with the fact that this is happening again. but same as last time: five replies, and you can take one piece of evidence for adrastea to deposit at trial! ]
no subject
Just the two of them? Interesting. [ DO EITHER OF THEM HAVE HICKEYS, THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT TO ME PERSONALLY.
also, importantly, are they both breathing?
other than that, he'll look around with the torchlight as his guide to get an initial visual of the combat room. he's been in here before this week, so he has an idea of how it usually looks - what's changed? anything out of place? ]
no subject
well, first thing of note as they actually step in - it's cold in here? not frigid, but chilly. it's warmer closer to the entrance, by comparison, but the closer that you get to where the armory is situated in all of this - beyond the sleepers, along the further wall - the colder it gets.
it's also a gotdang mess. there's smaller practice weapons strewn everywhere, things on the smaller size or easily projectile-worthy by hand like throwing knives, ninja stars, and smaller/lighter swords. the floor, both the padding that makes up the actual combat space and the normal flooring, is... wet. adrastea sidesteps to avoid a trail of droplets leading out of the armory and combat room and into the hall. ]
no subject
also oof. he shivers appropriately. noting that it's colder the further in he goes. can he take a moment to like... try and smell this liquid on the mat? like. don't judge him yelan (maybe a little) but is it water or something else?
is he allowed to peek into the armory or is that verboten? ]
no subject
while he does his sniff check, she won't judge him too much and is instead pulling her jacket properly on instead of just wearing it over her shoulders like she's started to since last thursday. it smells... like nothing? it does have a little more viscosity compared to normal water, though, and has glitter and little things in it. probably not advisable to licc.
he is allowed to peek! there's a few, larger weapon slots empty in the racks - a bow, something from the bludgeoning weapons section, and a spear. he may also take a closer look at the disarray that's all over the place if he'd like. ]
no subject
LICKS IT. no he does not lick it. weird though. does it look like something you might find in a snowglobe? he has seen one of those before. as in, are the little 'things' small and white like they could be fake snow?
ok, he will observe the disarray. what actually IS there all over the floor? anything other that just the chaos of tossed weaponry? any corpses? :( ]
