welcome, crewmate LUCIEN TAVELLE.

On TUESDAY morning after a day having landed on the new planet, then the new amenities to the ship, Lucien will hear a familiar notification ringing from his I.R.I.S. It takes one look, one gesture, and a black message screen displays in a cascade.

It is a request. One easy to ignore if you close your eyes and turn away.

I hope this message finds you well, Mister Tavelle. It would be a lie to say some curiosity isn't part of why I'm going to ask this question. Do you believe in fate? Do you believe in God?

... What if I told you we could possibly talk to lost souls? We could bring them closure. Or perhaps those still breathing can find closure. If what you read interests you, come to the church. I'll open the gate for you.

AMALTHEA

Lucien receives a map, leading him to a locked gate. Air decompresses as the lock unwinds, then quietly the doors open just for him. Beyond, he will see a single open location—the church.

With a green-white glow coming from this room, it almost seems like the complete opposite of a place one would go for spiritual peace. Large stained glass windows cover the walls, depicting scenes of hands coming together, intertwined with vine-like structures, and groups of humanoid figures happily reveling with one another. Rows of pews are lined up facing the dais where there is no altar, but rather, a podium.

There he finds Amalthea gazing upon the stained glass... Perhaps they're mesmerized, but they notice him. Their aura is welcoming yet eerie, but Lucien is here anyway, "Good morning. I'm glad to see this is your choice. Shall we begin?"

RULES

As the crewmate responsible for the Celebrant role, Lucien is expected to follow a few rules:

1. For now, keep your new designation a secret. Should this designation be shared with anyone without prior authorization, consequences and termination of position are possible. This can be revisited at a later date.
2. If you distribute any information acquired, it must be done anonymously or without referencing the source. This can be revisited at a later date.
3. The Celebrant will meet with Amalthea weekly on FRIDAY when it's convenient for all parties involved to perform a seance. This will allow the Celebrant to communicate with a lost soul.
4. They may communicate with the ghost summoned at the seance for a total of 3 questions, though this number may increase with prolonged practice. The Celebrant, however, may not pick the same person that they spoke to the week prior. There is also no guarantee that they will receive a clear answer.
5. Post-seance, the Celebrant will suffer rather terrible headaches and mild hallucinations for the rest of FRIDAY, after the seance.
6. As a note, the church is currently inaccessible to the public! Lucien may only access it with Amalthea present, so it cannot be used as a location for your PCs. Church is public now, oops.

[ hello. there's something about this face that makes perfect sense, not that he recognizes it in any way. just seems to very much match her vibes.

he's coming in, this time instead of sitting at the first pew, he walks up the dais to the podium, leaning an elbow on it. ]

Feel as if my choice is going to be fairly obvious this time.

[dropoffs]

[ Julia Child is a maid... Who looks very ghostly because of her translucent white skin, but bright emerald eyes and dark black hair. ] You plan to summon Mister Viktor?

[tombtaker]

[ i feel like my insistence on julia child was not as far off as all that considering. that's at least an 85% guess on colorfle.

rolling one shoulder, tilting his head to look at her. ]

Can't say it will be a grand idea, but it's the one I have.

[ he knows it's going to drive him insane but that's okay. ]

... If I don't ask questions, will it last longer?

[ as in if he avoids the questions for a comment or two will it boot the connection. not necessarily infinite summoning hack. ]

[dropoffs]

[ it was close enough in my heart. She stands below the raised platform where he stands with the podium, edges of herself every once in a while fading into a lingering darkness. In her comfortable maid costume, she smiles at him... But it wanes and so does the dark. Despite being odd and eerie, she can sympathize. ] That sounds something worth trying out, but... Will that be good for you, Mister Tavelle? [ Before she considers spiritual logistics, she is going to sanity check. ]

[tombtaker]

[ across his skin a few red eyes blink open to roll and observe and then close again, quick enough to be a trick of the eye. he shivers. ]

We're supposed to be practicing, aye? Can't hurt to push the limits some.

[dropoffs]

Very well. [ Who is she to tell the master of this church no? ] As your guide, I will sever the connection if you approach any danger, but we will test the limits... I do not think we can sustain it for overlong, but you may be able to buy yourself and Mister Viktor more time together. [ And isn't that enough? He can be allowed extra time as long as he doesn't ask his third question, but there will be a visible indicator where they need to move along or risk disconnection. ] If, by chance, you lose yourself in the summoning, take my hand and I will lead you back.

[tombtaker]

It worked with Dahut, last week. We didn't say anything and he was able to stay for a moment. So it's only building off of that, seems simple enough.

[ a ghostie-clock ... ]

What would losing myself look like?

[dropoffs]

[ A nod. They can see how long the ghostie-clock ticks! ] ... I don't know... But I wouldn't be surprised if it comes with forgetting yourself, shedding your physical coil, and trying to follow those souls to where they are.

[tombtaker]

[ COOL BEANS. ]

Right. Well, let's avoid that.

[dropoffs]

Yes. I would rather not find a replacement for you. [ Which... Hm. ] Have you been feeling lonely with all this knowledge?

[tombtaker]

I don't get lonely.

[ wow. okay edgelord. ]

[dropoffs]

[ ok well she doesn't really buy it especially if he gives off the vibe like his icon ] Here I thought to allow you to have one confidant, but it can simply be to the two of us in this church. Our little secret.

[tombtaker]

[dropoffs]

A companion you can trust. [ So he can be a little less lonely in his responsibilities. ]

[ rude. ]

I wasn't a choice you made. You are mine. [ Not in a rude way, or a way of ownership, but the truth of the matter was that she reached out to him. [ there is something about that that gives him pause, tilting his chin down as he leans on the podium, looking her up and down. the skin shivers and opens to red eyes again, and one of his hands tightens - the fingers twitching in seemingly without meaning to.

its true that he's always been a choice someone - or something - else has made. fate, the somnovem, the nein. ]

... Alright. Can they come to this place? Or I simply tell them?

[dropoffs]

[ She stays standing there at the aisle, not approaching. She is content being below and looking up at him. ] You can tell them of your work and what you learn, but for now you cannot bring them here. This section of the ship is still under maintenance... And I wouldn't want for accidents. For my privacy, I ask you to mask my personal involvement. You can tell them someone is helping you, but not that it's me.

[tombtaker]

Alright.

[ doing a little pace around the dais. ]

Throné, then.

[dropoffs]

[ A nod. ] Then your three questions for Mister Viktor... What did you have in mind? [ He isn't obligated to tell him, but she's curious to know. ]

[tombtaker]

[ he will, at this point, come sit down on the edge of the dias, leaning on his hand with his elbow on his thigh. ]

I can see the obvious. They're somehow sending some messages through that HER-MES system, though whether it's intentional or not seems ...

[ less obvious. ]

I suppose at least the one if there's anything left to say.

[dropoffs]

I've seen those messages as well... It is hard to discern if they are purposeful and directly from our deceased. HER-MES has been studied to pick up not only present emotions, but lingering emotions which includes those who have passed. Still, I'm hopeful. [ But also because she's inclined to believe in the supernatural. ] ... And are you hopeful to hear something specific come from his mouth, Mister Tavelle?

[tombtaker]

Oh, sure, aye. We'll start with some profuse apologies for offing it and leaving me here alone with the rest of this madhouse and see where it goes from there.

[dropoffs]

Did you two make a promise?

[tombtaker]
