ROLE β OCTO MEETING
ALL ROLES ON DECK
welcome, DESIGNATIONS.
On MONDAY afternoon, some hours after landing on Acquada, then the new amenities to the ship, our super secret living designations will receive a message from Senior Crew. There is a silent ping, so as not to give away anything to those they might be around.
We have decided to combine our meetings together this week and we have objectives we would like to accomplish. They may seem lofty, but with joined efforts we seek to make progress this week.
Sr. Crew
They have seen the command room before in passing. It's the room where the senior crew often check all sort of stuff from metrics, diagnostics, navigation, supply, inventory... You get the point. There are a number of terminals, all of which the current junior crew roles know they do not normally have access to.
There waits all eight senior officers, pensive and tense.
Roles are free to use this post across the IC week.

TL;DR
This is a communal role meeting with new objectives for the eight roles. While not every role will have a specialized task, roles are free to group up on tasks to better processes and increase success rate! Roles may collaborate to test methods or run trials in this post.
The NPCs have posed that immediately they'd like to focus on:
π Preventing murder and death this week.
π Devise a plan to return the dead and implement it. We can pose Friday possibly as being the day to organize with the public if IC help is wanted/needed!
DEADLINE IS BEFORE THURSDAY CURFEW. Submit here.
NPCs are interested in other related topics such as the origin of pink haze, CEM waves, etc. and are open to performing investigations or tasks to better understand the situation on the Eudora.

There have been records of a couple of sightings. The sightings are extremely few, so we are unsure if it's the trick of the eye or not. I believe a pattern is still worth noting to record and keep in mind for future studies. It would help us understand the nature of this spreading phenomenon and learn to mitigate its influence. There was an article that referenced a mysterious object that could be a ward which interests me greatly, but that is a temporary solution or a viewfinder to the problem at hand. Seeking the source and destroying it could prevent the waves from spreading and taking over. Ideally, this would exterminate them.
We have tried to gather a sample and extract data from it, but the physical form would disappear from sight and we are left with similar results to usual CEM waves. I still believe that this element is completely foreign from this dimension.

shiro swivels his seat back and forth as he offers lovelace... a map! it centers around the recently unlocked bridge. don't worry about what it actually looks like cola just imagine a stereotypical spaceship blueprint with access tunnels and ventilation. ]
So. Bridge is opened up, but according to the town hall you all held - and me going in there myself - it's a five minute timer before things start to go south. But I don't know if that includes access tunnels or the vents.
no subject
Okay, so you stay back this time and I'll deal with it. [ unfortunately she's stubborn and would like to just brute-force past the problem. ] If the Eudora is sickβif she's in painβthen we still have to try.
no subject
Oooor. Or, consider, we - [ puts his fingertips together, hands up towards his chin, and then does the ( spongebob voice ) boi gesture. ] - we don't do that? At least not right away. Because I went in there, and then five minutes later I was right back outside with a splitting headache, so we might find ourselves losing progress if we go barreling in.
[ shiro "patience yields focus" voltron vs lovelace "i'll MAKE a solution" wolf359 ]
I can try an access tunnel, first, and see what happens. If I get turned around, we'll figure out a way to kick the door down - metaphorically - so that we can help her more effectively.
no subject
If you're so worried about the headache, maybe you shouldn't be the one going in first to begin with. Just give me the map and give me whatever I need to... I don't know... unscrew whatever panels need unscrewing. I can go. [ no!!!! ]
We're all feeling a little more like ourselves now, anyway. So what's the worst that can happen to me? [ NO!!!! ]
no subject
But it's not reliable. Not yet. And if you get stuck somewhere, no matter what you've got to back you up... if we can't reach you, that's it, you're trapped and there might not be able to get you out.
If I go into the access tunnel, it's going to be right there where you can grab me if something happens. Would you wait the whole five minutes in the same spot if we tested it out with you?
no subject
[ impatiently tapping her foot, but she doesn't have a good argument against "what if you just get stuck." and as for that last bit... ]
... No. I'd keep moving. [ cool. great. good. ]
no subject
[ he will. be the reasonable voice here. ]
... figured. [ fond? ] So, we'll run some tests - and then run in guns blazing, sort of, if all else fails.
[ is it just you going, lovelace. shall we get started this fine wednesday? ]

it's camera time. (to be updated as many times as needed before deadlines):
- one camera is going outside the ballroom to monitor any levels of pink haze in the corridors on thursday night. if there's something they have to do to get this to show up on the camera, shu will work with adrastealen to get that working.
- one camera outside the bridge and one inside the bridge. if the inside one has to be remote so he can just run in and put in on the control panel then so be it.
- one camera outside engineering and one inside engineering. same as before, if he has to run in, quickly find somewhere to put a remote one and leg it out he will.
- one camera is going in the junior crew corridor to monitor the outside of room 20. he ain't touchin the inside that hell room can stay CLOSED.
- one camera in the stasis bay with the pods holing their dead frens. keep an eye on them. ]

BALLROOM EXTERIOR
half an hour. an hour. you fast forward through nothing, just boring footage.
but top of the hour, there's a series of abberations. whatever work the two of you put in, it's not perfect. shoma likely had to help them figure out a few things, and even then it's not enough to get a perfect reading of things. but you can mark 12:00 midnight as the moment things get kind of weird. the aberrations take on a pink tinge, the camera feed glitching and scrolling, repeating, tearing before reforming. it repeats this. over and over again for thirty minutes.
the glitches become deep, pink static at this point. it's hard to make out the closed doors, the hall.
and then - something square-shaped falls from near the ceiling, and a faint blue negates the pink enough to see that... bongy is exiting the vents. all on his own. the shape of this raw chicken creature falls to the ground, bringing more of the blue down with him in a streak of clarity across the feed. he shakes himself out, and then just. sits there on his drumpsticks like a little person, staring off contemplatively into space. what does it mean... to exist? to love? to know that you are but a piece of the universe?
five minutes later, this fucking weird little dude screeches and zoomies around as if nothing is amiss, leaving a streak of clarity everywhere that he scampers around in the feed before he's gone.
well that was weird! you fast-forward to you and yelan exiting the ballroom, and by this time the feed has restored itself to normal. no pink, no glitches. ]
THE BRIDGE
much like the ballroom hall, pink aberrations fill the screen. it repeats for the next half hour as the other recording did, staticking out and glitching in pinks. it clears up at 8:00, the time you and yelan do your patrols.
inside, nothing happens for an hour. there's no activity, no people here. the feed glitches in pink again at 12:00. but there are... shadows moving, as screens light up and data fills the space. the autopilot engages, or so it eseems. these shadows are shaped like people, and are going about the bridge as if they're conducting business. lingering at terminals, seated in the captain's chair, interacting with one another. a whisper of voices can just barely be made out - but this camera doesn't have a microphone. you shouldn't be hearing anything.
this activity continues until 8:00, when the feed clears up. all is still, all is silent, as the terminals slowly power down into sleep mode again. ]
ENGINEERING
like the other feeds, nothing happens until 12:00. the feed does the same as it had the others, pink, glitching. but the pink is offset by a mechanical blue - the jump drive system enabling, whirring brighter and brighter. it doesn't negate the pink, simply stands out due to the strength of it. the pylon that supports the core has a spinning light inside of it, casting (normal) shadows across the room before eventually slowing and powering down to an idle hum again. the feed clears up at 8:00. ]
ROOM 020
the door does breathe a little, though. so that's fun. ]
STASIS BAY
12:00, pink static and aberrations. the glitches get worse, just like the other feeds. at some point during the recording, bongy goes scampering through here as well -judging by timestamps, room 020's sighting came first, then this one. the negating effect is more faint, but a lot of time has gone by at this point so he doesn't have as much of your drugs on him or trailing behind his zoomies.
8:00, things clear up. your friends are fine. ]
MAINTENANCE CREW

- They've tagged along with the ship for as long as we have, or maybe even longer. Do they know anything about its past?
- They find the junk we leave behind and salvage the good stuff to sell. Anything in that junk that could be a clue?
- Can they tell us their recipe? Or at least the main active ingredient?
- Can we convince them to brew us something really, really strong?
- Is there anything they want? What can we offer?
- They're seemingly unaffected by the weird stuff that affects us. Can they see anything that we can't?
- Can they reach where the dead are?
anyway, mods said two of us can go so it'll be anise and... rodya! ]
