Normally, Nut & Bolt ships will start a lockdown to scan for abnormalities during a lengthy space jump. Abnormalities are rare, but scans are necessary. The lockdown itself keeps certain features online, some stay offline to siphon energy to necessary parts. Lockdown lasts until the morning of the next day and can be prolonged with full permissions.
The one we had experienced is not the norm. It was unscheduled and we did not make a space jump. Through deduction, it means that it was a malfunction or that there was an abnormality found within the ship. While we were stuck in different areas without communication, we attempted an override command, but it had failed.
It would seem that two met their demise sometime between the lockdown and when we all woke up. Incapacitation is normally meant to sedate the threat. Senior crew are incapacitated later and wake earlier than junior crew, so they are expected to incarcerate or expel the problem, but upon checking the scan results of yesterday's lockdown nothing was found yet two are dead.
For now, we have ejected everyone who had stayed in suspicious areas, then locked those areas to preserve the scene with cryofreeze to investigate later. The shields will keep the areas in cryostasis and prevent anything from tampering with the areas.
I'm sorry you had to see that. I wish we were able to do something...
It is a long list of things. Some of them are vague. Some very specific like biological weapons, such as highly contagious diseases. [ covid ] For malfunctions... I am unsure. It must be part of the system. Adrastea has been doing their best to understand what triggered it, if it were a malfunction.

Metis did now relay to me that Mister Pearce was ill. It's good to rule that out, though I wish he had told us, but I heard that employers are not entitled to an employee's medical history.
We are hoping to come to answers tonight with investigation and understanding the nature of the lockdown, then deliver them tomorrow. If we cannot we may need to ask everyone for assistance.
yeah, i told metis. i'm thinking luke might've been a personal health condition, though i don't want to conclude anything just yet - and that doesn't erase the possibility that something external made it worse. i can't even guess for dahut, though.
The effects from the cosmoelectromagnetic waves do not help, either. We will be keeping this in mind, though Mister Pearce is being examined by Io at the moment.
We are prioritizing system diagnostics first while the ship is back to normal, so we may not be able to unravel the truth of what happened to Mister Dahut. At least, with Mister Pearce, we hope Io finds something.
I wish there was more to tell you about the help we may be asking you all to provide, but protocol has not considered a situation like this, so we will be assembling some kind of structure that we hope to implement tomorrow.

what kind of abnormality or malfunction would trigger a lockdown?

if there was some kind of disease, i expect more of us in the deck would've dropped dead. so, sounds like it was something else.
when do you think we can expect answers?
