STRIHIRA
Technological Range: High-tech modern comforts, atmospheric manipulation, renewable resource (geothermal energy)
Inspo Board: Here
Unique Characteristics: Strihiria is a planet subsumed in near perpetual night thanks to its rather distant sun, causing the area surrounding the singular major colony to become almost impossible to navigate without the proper equipment. Strihira's society enjoys new blood in all forms, making tourism a booming business. The temperature planetside leans low, sitting at a breezy 10Β°C/50Β°F. Any heat and energy generated for their city is primarily geothermal.
Oxygen levels are very low planetside and crew members disembarking will receive a helpful breathing apparatus (respirator) to aid in traversing the planet, as well as a heavy-duty torch and appropriate gear should your work have you venturing into the dark.
Strihira's native population has ashen features and a slightly sunken appearance. Get close enough and you might notice thin, barely visible partitions around their mouth. Should you witness a "feeding" at a local establishment, you'll see these folds are able to pull away to reveal (cw: needle-like apparatuses) a siphoning system meant to allow for easy consumption of their staple diet: iron-rich blood. There are other members of this section of the population that have not "upgraded" to these systems, preferring to do things "the old-fashioned way" with their natural teeth. You are just as likely to come across other species here as much as the locals, who seem to revel in being tourists. It's a very healthy mixture of beings.
General Locations: These locations are for flavor only and cannot be investigated during a planetside mini-CYOA.
π©Έ Pillow Talk: A lavish love hotel with hundreds of themed rooms (make up your own!) All hotel amenities come with the purchase of a room for the night, including room service, a hot tub and balcony, the largest bed per suite you've laid eyes on. As Eudora crew members, you have been given a complimentary single night stay here.
π©Έ The Blood Bank: Tall and spire-like, the Bank is the second-tallest man made structure on the planet. Here you may donate blood for store credits all around the city. You may choose the option of donating blood via a simple siphon-like device that cuffs to your arm or you can ask for it "old-fashioned." Walk-ins accepted! Donate today!
π©Έ Book 'Em: A neo-gothic-themed bookshop with physical and e-book products. One of their bestsellers is a highly advertised series entitled The Gloaming - Summaries indicate it is about the torrid love affair between a blood-drinking "bad boy" (Mandi) and a protagonist (Raevahn) who is "not like the other normies." Considered "a frantic joyride!" by intergalactic reviews who laud the seven-book saga!
A local nightclub that acts as a place for all of The Nestβs inhabitants to gather and discuss local goings-on while being able to grab a quick bite to eat. If you're the type to stop in for a drink, then you might want to linger at the bar and listen to the local gossip of both the blood-devouring populace and tourists alike.
THE LIGHTHOUSE:
A tower in the dead center of The Nest's city center, reaching far into the sky and breaching the clouds overhead. Planted in the center of the business district of the city, people are always moving in and out of the revolving doors. Access is not specifically forbidden to the crew of the CSS Eudora, and you may enter the lavish first-floor lobby, but that's where your ticket here seems to stop. Though the front staff are quite chatty.
THE CLIFFS:
Further south towards the outskirts of Strihira's city proper, are wide swaths of gouged-out path in the earth, thousands of meters down, creating a deep, dark series of strangely winding canyons in the ground. A very unique and captivating landmark with its massive size and depth, it's a must see.
ANORIA
Technological Range: Self-sufficient foragers with generators running off of natural minerals within the ore-filled veins of the planet. High-tech mounts and weaponry, where it matters most.
Inspo Board: Here
Unique Characteristics: A heavily-forested planet with long stretches of treacherous snowy terrain. The local inhabitants make their home sheltered by dense, dark trees. Their boughs drape down from above, willow-like but with an tightly-clustered, emerald, needle-like leaves creating an enormous dome-like structure over their sprawling camp.
The planet itself is frigid. With regular snowstorms occurring more than half of the year. Temperatures linger around 0Β°c/30Β°F under the high sun, but are capable of reaching well below sub-zero, particularly in the evening.
The locals are by no means technically unsavvy. E.L.C.s (Electromagnetic Long-distance Cruisers) are mechanized mounts used for hunting as well as traversing steep mountainsides. They mainly export minerals and mining rights to the far mountains located on the other side of the planet.
General Locations: These locations are for flavor only and cannot be investigated during a planetside mini-CYOA.
π² The Lodges: A series of log longhouses arranged into the shape of an octagon. Here, you'll find plenty of hot food and drink (savory root vegetable stews, freshly roasted meat, and never-emptying cups of mead) free of charge for the hardworking members of the Eudora. Hunters gather here to rest after a long day of working out in the snow.
π² Furs, Feathers, and Fancies: An enormous tented bazaar of goods ranging from raw leather and pelts to handmade jackets, boots, and more. Artisans and fur/leather traders all conduct business here. There are some tattoo artisans in the back who are happy to display their skill. Due to the Eudora's services, the crew may receive a complimentary item or tattoo.
π² E.L.C. Paddock: In a large circular paddock, some Anorians are breaking-in or recalibrating themselves to their E.L.C. mounts. The mounts are prone to bucking about at first with unfamiliar riders, but with patience and perseverance, it will attune to your biometrics and will even come when you call.
The Deepest Woods is what the local inhabitants call the particular forest that is surrounding their main encampment. The forest can be explored at length, though the locals warn not to wander too far from camp in the evening. From time to time one might feel themselves being watched from the trees above. Maybe you should grab a couple of people and survey the area.
THE OLD VILLAGE:
Located on the outskirts of the landing site and surrounded by precarious terrain across another swath of lake, encrusted with ice. This village that once was seems to be in a bit of a state, abandoned with some detritus scattered throughout the site as well as signs that nature has begun to take over again, prints of large creatures having already wandered through and begun to pick it over. It is quite literally a walkable frozen snapshot of a village.
THE PIT:
Rumor among the locals states that there is a bottomless hole in the earth of Anoria, just South of their current location. The bottom is impossible to see from where you stand, even with the strongest light. The only way you can investigate is by going down, but the locals don't recommend it. Guess you'll just have to find out yourselves.
HYROS
Technological Range: A mixture of high and low-tech due to changes in population and travelers that influence their way of life. Their more complex technologies are adapted from out of date models.
Inspo Board: Here
Unique Characteristics: Hyros is made up of vast desert terrain, where its denizens dwell underground in a metropolis called the Ocean of Silk. Its population is diverse, some hailing from orbiting moons while others are simply passing through for business. Species of all shapes and sizes call Hyros home, all bearing the common goal of trading wares from all over the far reaches of the galaxy.
Hot and dry all year round, surface temperatures can reach up to 47Β°C/117Β°F degrees. However, that's not the reason its population has fled to the safety of the Ocean of Silk. If you're topside, you can hear it, low rumblings that turn up the sands, long tracts of dark, sleek creatures surfacing to claim ownership of the surface.
Hyros is quiet on the surface. Seldom is anyone actually seen traveling the long tracts of desert besides the local desert-faring fauna. Most trade routes anywhere above ground have gone disused for so long that sand has eroded them away, much like any other signs of civilization - routes inside have been limited to just a few, safer trails.
General Locations: These locations are for flavor only and cannot be investigated during a planetside mini-CYOA.
βοΈ Frey's Fresh Fish Flesh: A middle-aged woman with a wet cloth wrapped around her throat like a scarf is perched on a tall stool beside a very large urn. If you're feeling a bit peckish for some seafood, never fear! Frey, the woman, sells fresh fish, which she forges out of the urn herself, descales, and guts before selling.
βοΈ The Prismatic Peacock: Find quality silks, satins, and other specialty-woven fabrics here. You have received a voucher that can be redeemed here for one bespoke piece of clothing made by the eight-armed seamster in the back who is happy to measure you on location to make sure his creation fits you perfectly.
π The Night Market: The Ocean of Silk is home to many shops along its numerous, winding strips. However, as most of the denizens of the underground begin to tuck themselves in for the night, a corner of this enormous bastion of survival lights up with dozens of dark stalls with bold, brilliant banners that set the area alight with intrigue. Two rules here: Everyone must wear a mask to do business here, and everything has a price. Welcome to the Night Market.
The only source of water on Hyros, it is a massive underground spring that burbles up to the surface and fills several canals as well as a reservoir, all of which lead down towards the Ocean of Silk. Eudora crew members may flash their badges to gain passage on one of the boats offering rides to travelers back and forth between the surface port and the Ocean of Silk itself.
THE ABANDONED TRADE ROUTES:
A winding series of roads that one may traverse if they so dare, leading up towards the dangerous sandy expanse aboveground. The trails leading up and out of the narrow passages to the Ocean of Silk itself are overrun with hardy, flora and rodent-like creatures that skitter to and fro in among the detritus that litters the way. The trails get more treacherous the closer to the surface you get, disused and abandoned.
THE CAVERN:
A ways from the Ocean of Silk stands a very large opening up against a cliff face. The air is significantly hotter around this particular area, bearing with it a strange smell, the source of which can't be traced. There are pitons struck at its edges and ropes holding open the entrance that has begun to sag with age. Have a look inside?
STATION RODIN
Technological Range: State of the art life support and a core that thrives off of what its guests leave behind after every trip, Rodin is self-sufficient and powerful. It boasts top of the line VR systems as well, giving its guests an experience they're unlikely to forget.
Inspo Board: Here
Unique Characteristics: Station Rodin is a luxury rest station with its own casino and intergalactic mall strip. Shimmering like a beacon in the void, ships speeding towards it, their passengers hoping for some rest and relaxation here at this safe haven for travelers.
Tiered like a decadent layer cake and dripping with lights and sounds to attract tired passers-by, Station Rodin acts as an intergalactic rest stop. The "weather" is all regulated by the interior at a steady 20.5 degrees Celsius. The station itself is overseen by an intergalactic celebrity, famous virtual streamer and public darling, Venus Vespertine. For your particular visit, she's opened up her station to everyone and anyone to participate in a grand auction!
One might wonder what they can do here on Station Rodin, and that's a great question. There's a luxury spa for some rest and relaxation, an entertainment "district", and a massive strip leading further up with stages, restaurants, casinos, and designer clothing boutiques. Gifted with a substantial bonus, characters may indulge to their hearts' content.
General Locations:
π Open Your Mind: A popular virtual experience! Rooms containing a series of 'stand here' squares will activate a brainwave projection device, thrusting viewers; this lasts five minutes but feels like a lifetime to the person inside the trip, and when emerging, they remember little of it except the emotions of extreme glee, longing, or even a great sadness, of which the source is untraceable and may force you to contemplate your mortal or even immortal existence. It is a highly advertised once-in-a-lifetime experience. These emotions will follow you for a few hours thereafter.
π Black Hole: Easy to get into, and nearly impossible to get out of on your own, the Black Hole is known for its strong drinks, thumping bass, and shady activity. Whether you're looking to buy some fun substances, or closing a deal on some off-the-books merchandise, there are all kinds of people at the Hole.
π Icarus' Folly: A racetrack that soars thousands of feet in the air with levitating rings and tunnels for pilots to fly through in compact, jewel-colored crafts available for rental (whether you know how to fly or not, the autopilot will help you along!) Even if you're not one for flying, there are many spectator stands and a VIP restaurant named Rings n' Wings that sells wings. All kinds of wings.
A decadent restaurant with dancers wearing gravity rejectors performing on the ceiling, bright lights sweeping through the stage, and acts on stage full of contortionists, magicians, trapeze artists, and comedians here to provide some mid-dinner entertainment all around.
THE APRHODITE TERRA:
The hotel is an incredible landmark, stylized with rococo flair, and is absolutely yours for the exploring. Have a walk through the gardens, luxuriate in your new room equipped with a tub-slash-jacuzzi, queen-sized bed, and beautiful view of the station itself. The junior crew are stationed all along this particular wing, how convenient.
THE ESCHER MALL:
Equipped with stores that range from eerily familiar to totally foreign, but if you can dream it, there is probably a shop waiting just for you. The Escher Mall boasts escalators that travel up and down the almost impossible-seeming architecture. Whether it's clothing, food, or souvenirs, the mall will provide. If you try to purchase weapons and/or sharp objects, you will find them turned into a tiny, harmless keychain when boarding the Eudora again.
Note: The longer you spend wandering, the more difficult it is to find your way back. A growing panic may start to build inside of you, mounting to the point where you'll be frantically running around the mall until it sees fit to spit you out again.
VOLK 92-B (PRONOUNCED ππππ)
Population: 20,300
Technological Range: Energy emitted from the planet's core provide the Volk with all of the energy they need. Technology is built purely for function, able to tolerate the heat here.
Inspo Board: Here
Unique Characteristics: A planet with crushing gravity and mountainous terrain, Volk 92-B is home to sturdy, biomechanical humanoids that able to withstand the intense gravity of the planet. They're very knowledgeable when it comes to geology and engineering. They do, however, tend to be people of very few words and are primarily all work and no play.
The Jr. Crew must wear a complex exoskeleton, the A.R.G.O., in order to traverse Volk 92-B safely. The temperatures on Volk 92-B are almost unbearably hot to most, but the A.R.G.O. will create a temperature-regulated personal atmosphere to keep them safe.
That, and being the vehicle for their export of valuable elements, isolated for individual use and packaged for a variety of distant stars. Meanwhile, the Eudora arrives, importing necessary parts for their anti-gravity units and body armor that prevents what remains of their organic organs from being crushed by the gravity.
General Locations:
βοΈ The Workshop: Here, you can find a number of tools that the Volk utilize in their daily work, primarily for repairs and replacements. There are all kinds of drills, hammers, screws, nails, sheet metal, and more. Take only what you need and not more or you'll find yourself stuffed into a locker by one of the Volk.
βοΈ Training Facility: This is a massive gym with everything you could possibly think of, and it is gravity-regulated meaning you are able to remove your exo suits here and only here. The Volk have to maintain what biological muscle they have still, so you'll see a variety of weights (free and stationary), a massive climbing wall, group treadmills, and an enormous hot springs to relax in afterwards.
βοΈ Drainage Tunnels: With all of the mining going on, drainage tunnels are an inevitability. A hot slurry of mineral paves the way downwards. There are crates full of equipment if you want to go down. Rock lobsters are working diligently at maintaining the tunnels, bemoaning that there is nothing to eat down here if you listen close.
A colossal structure that can be seen upon the Eudora's landing, skeleton-shaped and curling around the entire crater that makes up Volk 92-B's colony. The bones seem to have dug into the rockface, clinging so that its silhouette looms over the colony at all times.
THE BASTION:
The tallest landmark on Volk 92-B's main structure. Reinforced with enormous heat-resistant supports on either side, the tower houses one massive drill that continuously chips away at Volk 92-B's tough crust and loosens up the valuable minerals below.
THE CORE:
Accessible via a tram that will take you down towards an observation deck in the center of the planet. The air down here is incredibly hot and you can hear the creaking of your A.R.G.O. just barely keeping you yourself from being folded like a pretzel from the intense gravity. But... the Core is quite a beautiful sight. Just don't stare too long.
ACQUADA
Population: 5,000
Technological Range: Solar, wind, and thermal energy sources keep Acquada comfortably fueled. The local populace works with high tech gear both on land and below the water in their research facility.
Inspo Board: Here
Unique Characteristics: A panthalassic planet inhabited by a migrant species of aliens that look similar to the Earth-based beluga whales. They are a very friendly species with a tight-knit community. Having traveled long through the stars to find a planet that can support their people, they have been met with disappointment repeatedly, until discovering Acquada.
They have terraformed spiral-shaped tracts of land from the center of a strange coral forest that towers high into the sky. A technologically-advanced research facility is right in the center of this pool and burrows down deep into the ocean, accessible via elevator.
The crew of the Eudora will be warmly welcomed among these locals as they have come bearing important supplies for them to treat and reinforce their deteriorating ocean research station. Due to being a sea water-based planet, much of the metal (despite its advanced treatments) still rusts and becomes brittle.
General Locations:
π Open Waters: Take a boat out onto the open waters of Acquada on the surface. Boats can be piloted solo or with a small crew, but will not allow Eudora Crew to sail further than is reasonable from the researchers (don't steal their shit!)
π Blue Garden: A comfortable and safe deep sea city base camp, reachable via the elevator topside. Surrounded by lush ocean flora, there are dozens of observation stations (enclosed balconies) with cozy pod chairs and drink kiosks. Vending machines full of plankton bars are stationed here. From here, you can catch a gondola down to the research facility.
π The Research Facility: A sleek-looking research facility, equipped with cafeteria, recreation wing, and research-testing labs (the last of which is locked to Jr. Crew). Due to its size, there is quite a lot of ground to cover - and sometimes you might find yourself getting lost in the halls of the facility.
An area that has been closed off, the power running on basic survival mode down here. The air is thin and the lighting is limited to emergency strips in a sharp, burning orange. Clearly this area has been shut down for a reason... what reason that is is up to you to discover.
THE CAVE NETWORK:
Upon exploring, you may stumble upon some long, winding cave-like tunnels that seem to narrow out the further down you go in the Facility. You will feel claustrophobic navigating them, as though your head could hit the ceiling at any moment.
THE GROTTO:
Surrounded by a gently swaying forest of coral with sprawling roots, and pools of water, sediment, and small plantlife all over. The Grotto deeper within is sacred, and protected by a pair of locals. They will let crew members from the Eudora pass through for a visit, but they will not hesitate to use violence if you try to deface this place.
LOTOPHAGOS
Population: UNΘΊVΘΊΖΕΘΊΙΕΙ
Technological Range: beeps
Inspo Board: Here
Unique Characteristics:
Lotophagos is a lush, verdant swirl of a planet with ropey, rosy clouds, a yolky sun, and waterways that curl around long, green streaks of land. (Upon drawing closer to the treeline, itβs almost as though one can see faces painted along the canopies in among the clouds, faces in pleasure, faces in pain, faces of longing. If you look away and look back, its possible they have been changed permanently to expressions of bliss before fading away.)
You'll be welcomed with open arms and it seems, by a variety of people - of all species, shapes and sizes. Some of them human-looking, others far more out of this world. It seems like they've been waiting for your arrival? There are even rooms here at the resort, meant for you all... though you aren't required to stay in them or even accept them, especially after all you've been through. You'll find them to be a strange, plush affair of dainty pinks, with bone-white columns carved with pastoral imagery. The beds are so comfortable, and the mattress sings a sweet siren song of sleep.
If the beach isn't quite your speed, maybe you'll be interested in the bar with lavish menu, or you can take yourself on a self-guided tour of the forest surrounding the resort, full of lush wildlifeβserpents and tropical birds, wide-eyed doe-like creatures, and jewel-colored beetles.
General Locations:
A luxury resort that has every possible amenity you could possibly want. Massages of the deep tissue variety, facials, food seasoned to perfection and drinks that never stop flowing, the Resort totes itself as a "free-for-all." It's paradise, and completely free for the Eudora Crew, so why not take advantage of them all? myconidic entities mill about, willing to perform your every task on a whim here.
THE FIELD OF REVERIE:
An enormous garden outside of the resort that takes up an almost impossible amount of space, stretching towards the horizon. The grass is springy and dewy, the flowers are almost too-sweet, and the colors so vivid they nearly hurt to look at for too long. At the same time, it's impossible to resist. Simply standing in the threshold, there's an urge that encourages you to truly take your time and linger among them
THE GARDENS:
A state-of-the-art facility with an impossibly large variety of flora. There are enormous pods here of rich green and pink hanging from all over. Thick hoses pulse along the ground feeding water where needed. Patches of the ground bubble open here and there, shivering with what looks like pressure from beneath. Trees line the entirety of this room, fed sunlight from above, earth and water from below, and giving off the sweetest oxygen that any planet can provide.
