ROLE — NAVIGATOR 🧭
NAVIGATOR
welcome, crewmate SHOMA ENDA.
On SUNDAY, once the unfortunate procedures of ... "Execution" has gone over, Shoma will hear the familiar ping of the I.R.I.S. at his wrist; the moment that he lifts up his hand to check what the noise is for, a window immediately pops up. The projection fills in a spread of maroon, and a message sent only to their designation loads in the window.
There is no compulsion to obey the request, but it is an extension of knowledge, and curiosity - and could be interesting.

Shoma Enda,
Unfortunate and ill timing given what's just happened, but mayhaps this invitation can provide some insight into what's to come with these upcoming weeks. I wish I could have done this at a better time but it is a decision that must be made before our next travel destination.
Meet me here as soon as possible and I'll be sure to explain more thoroughly.

METIS
A location pops up on the I.R.I.S. once the message is read, and will indicate where Shoma needs to go to meet with Metis. It will lead to a command room in which only the Senior Crew is allowed access, and an important factor when it comes to navigation. When he gets there, he'll find the COS waiting patiently, observing a line of data and routes illuminated on a panel above the main control that vanishes once they spot Shoma. A brief ! displays on the visor of their helmet before they lead them towards a table for seating with a gesture, some snacks and drinks already prepared.
"Let's have a seat. Ready to go over the details?"

RULES
As the role responsible for navigation, along with information that is acquired, Shoma is expected to follow a few rules:
1. For now, keep your new designation a secret. This can be revisited at a later date. Should this designation be shared with anyone without prior authorization, consequences and termination of position are possible.
2. If you distribute any information acquired, it must be done anonymously or without referencing the source. This can be revisited at a later date.
3. As the Navigator, Shoma will be presented with two/three routes to take in order to reach the Eudora's next stop. Each route will come with a brief description, and Shoma may only choose one. No further details will be offered regarding the route until the following Monday, and each will have its own consequences to bear. If you choose not to act, then a choice will be made for you.
4. Additionally, Shoma may use this time to speak directly with Metis each week. They may ask questions, receive small hints, or simply chat with them, though any information received will be subject to Metis' own discretion.
5. Your findings will be given to you after your decision is made on Sunday, with results of the path chosen announced Monday morning with the new mingle post.

[ ...hum. but he pauses on that topic to look at his options. ]
...Metis, can you look at this? [ points to path three. ] Do you see anything here?
no subject
[ Looks over, shifting where he sits to get a better view and... head tilts. ] ..No. I do not see anything. It would not be the first time a clear path has cropped up but 'tis a bit unusual.

and maybe for a moment, it feels like something is staring back. Spooky. ]
no subject
...this is creeping me out a little. [ swaps over to the first path. looking at the pink light. ] Has anyone talked to you about the pink haze yet...?
no subject
[ Agreed. Glances over this path now, watching the blips of pink. ] Afraid not directly, no. However, I have seen it coming up frequently on days like today as of recent.

And Anise has been seeing it all over the ship today now. I've been thinking it's some sort of mist that's preventing us from seeing things as they really are. [ and so he's concerned about this path. ]
no subject
[ :tails: ]
Has she..? Just out of nowhere? [ Blinks a few. Though, those other words seem to have him pondering, taping at his chin. ] Preventing us from seeing things... like an illusion of sorts?
no subject
But yeah. That's what I think. I don't know why though. [ ... ] Why would this ship hide its true nature? Or, I guess, who is doing it?
no subject
[ Wall of flesh... what the fuck. ]
An item? ...Ah, those promotional ones? I believe I recall those. I remember quite early on Harley had offered Thebe and I a dosage of the garlic one. [ Their breaths smelled like garlic afterwards. It was bad. Fortunately they had helmets on, so Shoma did not suffer Metis garlic breath. ] So less an illusion, and more lifting the veil.
...I'm not too sure. It seems like a lot of work to try and cover though.

I guess I'm now starting to be wary of things that're...y'know. Pink. Not that I feel better about something that might be out there staring at us.
no subject
[ A hum. Contemplating as he looks over the paths some more, before nodding. ]
A fair worry. Both are unsettling and reason for concern. One will never know what kind of danger we may be stepping into.
no subject
...even if it's dangerous, maybe picking the first path will reveal something else hidden. Does that seem like sound logic?
no subject
...It does. [ A reassuring smile. ] It is the same sound logic I would come to think myself.
no subject
[ goes to make him choice. ]
no subject
Yippeee for your choice making. ]
no subject
...uh. You might wanna see this. [ just. shares video??? HELP. ]
no subject
no subject
he just...pauses it. ]
Do...you...have any recollection of this, Metis?
no subject
..It does not help that I am not too sure on names here either but. [ Just staring at the two people as if that will somehow help him. ]

Ah, yes! Abigail Bradley, she was the previous Chief of Staff, the one I was shadowing under. A woman that was very focused in her work, though she was known for trying to find the loophole in things. [ Said with a bit of amusement. ] Quite the "sailor" mouth as some put it. But not someone too difficult to get along with. Usually, in any case.
[ BALD. ] Bryce Rowntree... That could be it. Hmm, I cannot really remember him... [ Taps chin. Thinkie. ]

[ He takes a moment to think, looking over the very same monitors here before them. Guiding a hand to show their path from the previous planet to on course for the next one. ] We did the very same preparations as we have in these past few weeks. But for one reason or another, the planet was not in its coordinates.
...Which clearly is more than alarming. A star - nay, a planet, a world, does not simply move. If it were a station capable of it, certainly, but not a planet that is so clearly stationary.
