ROLE — NAVIGATOR 🧭
NAVIGATOR
welcome, crewmate SHOMA ENDA.
On SUNDAY, once the unfortunate procedures of ... "Execution" has gone over, Shoma will hear the familiar ping of the I.R.I.S. at his wrist; the moment that he lifts up his hand to check what the noise is for, a window immediately pops up. The projection fills in a spread of maroon, and a message sent only to their designation loads in the window.
There is no compulsion to obey the request, but it is an extension of knowledge, and curiosity - and could be interesting.

Shoma Enda,
Unfortunate and ill timing given what's just happened, but mayhaps this invitation can provide some insight into what's to come with these upcoming weeks. I wish I could have done this at a better time but it is a decision that must be made before our next travel destination.
Meet me here as soon as possible and I'll be sure to explain more thoroughly.

METIS
A location pops up on the I.R.I.S. once the message is read, and will indicate where Shoma needs to go to meet with Metis. It will lead to a command room in which only the Senior Crew is allowed access, and an important factor when it comes to navigation. When he gets there, he'll find the COS waiting patiently, observing a line of data and routes illuminated on a panel above the main control that vanishes once they spot Shoma. A brief ! displays on the visor of their helmet before they lead them towards a table for seating with a gesture, some snacks and drinks already prepared.
"Let's have a seat. Ready to go over the details?"

RULES
As the role responsible for navigation, along with information that is acquired, Shoma is expected to follow a few rules:
1. For now, keep your new designation a secret. This can be revisited at a later date. Should this designation be shared with anyone without prior authorization, consequences and termination of position are possible.
2. If you distribute any information acquired, it must be done anonymously or without referencing the source. This can be revisited at a later date.
3. As the Navigator, Shoma will be presented with two/three routes to take in order to reach the Eudora's next stop. Each route will come with a brief description, and Shoma may only choose one. No further details will be offered regarding the route until the following Monday, and each will have its own consequences to bear. If you choose not to act, then a choice will be made for you.
4. Additionally, Shoma may use this time to speak directly with Metis each week. They may ask questions, receive small hints, or simply chat with them, though any information received will be subject to Metis' own discretion.
5. Your findings will be given to you after your decision is made on Sunday, with results of the path chosen announced Monday morning with the new mingle post.

For.. one reason or another, my upgrade - the "wetware" began to strain, which isn't necessarily unusual.. it happens time and time again. Even during the earlier weeks. But to this extent was enough to put my body into shock. It was so excruciating to the point that, before I knew it, I fell unconscious.

...there has to be a way to get it to stop reacting to these things. Or even replace it. If it's going to malfunction to the point of hurting all of you even worse it shouldn't still be worn.
no subject
Replacing it is.. a bit dangerous for a lot of us. And if there's a way to avoid it reacting this way, I'm a bit at a loss as to how. ...Were we without this.. perhaps we would have been able to do something. But these upgrades are mandatory for our positions and to keep us going. [ a tired sigh. ]

Why. Why were they necessary? Were you all hurt on a mission like Ganymede mentioned? There had to have been something else that wasn't designed like this. [ he says, still wearing his metal arm. i really need to get him to get it unscrewed maybe that's a next week problem. ]

It mostly depends on the person. In my case, as you surely remember from viewing my memory [ THAT I JUST SENT YOU IN THAT OTHER TAG HELP ] it helps keep the crystal contained. With my connection to the tower as thin as it is... I will likely not last long without.
no subject
...right, yeah. I suppose that's fair enough because that's important. But I guess the question becomes if it'll still do the things it was meant to do if it's causing these side effects for you guys. What if something worse happens next time?
no subject
A good question. One I cannot say I have an answer to. If it is capable of doing this much, there is the risk to something worse. [ A close of his eyes, mulling it over some more. ] ..Mayhap it is something I ought to bring up in the next meeting with the rest of the Senior Crew.
no subject
Mayhaps. [ dry. but also. please. he is so worried about all of you, you stress him out so bad. ] It's worth a shot to at least consider other options for your guys' sake, never mind ours.
[ but...he relents, sighing softly. ]
But I know that's not why I'm here. We still have a job to do.
no subject
Alright alright, I will most certainly bring it up first and foremost in the next meeting. After all, you are right, we would prefer this not to happen again. The least we can do is look more into it.
[ There's appreciation in his very tired tone. He's grateful you guys care! ]
Mm, that we do. But I'll put a pin on that earlier matter.

It can yes. The ship effects aside, traversing through the paths at least are safe enough.

Think I've got my pick sorted out. [ submission time!! ]

Got something? ...Hopefully not another headache?

[ Hmm... ] An illusion, perhaps?

[ but he's also pulling up his iris. ]
You may as well see this, too. [ worms you worms you worms you. ]
