welcome, crewmate SHOMA ENDA.

On SUNDAY, once the unfortunate procedures of ... "Execution" has gone over, Shoma will hear the familiar ping of the I.R.I.S. at his wrist; the moment that he lifts up his hand to check what the noise is for, a window immediately pops up. The projection fills in a spread of maroon, and a message sent only to their designation loads in the window.

There is no compulsion to obey the request, but it is an extension of knowledge, and curiosity - and could be interesting.

Shoma Enda,

Unfortunate and ill timing given what's just happened, but mayhaps this invitation can provide some insight into what's to come with these upcoming weeks. I wish I could have done this at a better time but it is a decision that must be made before our next travel destination.

Meet me here as soon as possible and I'll be sure to explain more thoroughly.

METIS

A location pops up on the I.R.I.S. once the message is read, and will indicate where Shoma needs to go to meet with Metis. It will lead to a command room in which only the Senior Crew is allowed access, and an important factor when it comes to navigation. When he gets there, he'll find the COS waiting patiently, observing a line of data and routes illuminated on a panel above the main control that vanishes once they spot Shoma. A brief ! displays on the visor of their helmet before they lead them towards a table for seating with a gesture, some snacks and drinks already prepared.

"Let's have a seat. Ready to go over the details?"

RULES

As the role responsible for navigation, along with information that is acquired, Shoma is expected to follow a few rules:

1. For now, keep your new designation a secret. This can be revisited at a later date. Should this designation be shared with anyone without prior authorization, consequences and termination of position are possible.
2. If you distribute any information acquired, it must be done anonymously or without referencing the source. This can be revisited at a later date.
3. As the Navigator, Shoma will be presented with two/three routes to take in order to reach the Eudora's next stop. Each route will come with a brief description, and Shoma may only choose one. No further details will be offered regarding the route until the following Monday, and each will have its own consequences to bear. If you choose not to act, then a choice will be made for you.
4. Additionally, Shoma may use this time to speak directly with Metis each week. They may ask questions, receive small hints, or simply chat with them, though any information received will be subject to Metis' own discretion.
5. Your findings will be given to you after your decision is made on Sunday, with results of the path chosen announced Monday morning with the new mingle post.

Were this back on the Source, it would take at the very least eight people... if not more. [ But a nod and hum. ] Though yes, he should not have been capable of transforming in the first place. [ What the fck happened really. ] Hopefully I'll have the time to look around when we arrive, I've only peeked at this past planet once. [ Also the tentative excitement... Metis watches him, curious, but also smiling. He hopes Shoma has fun when it comes then. ] Hmm... it's hard to say. A lot of these effects can be sporadic and random. It's possible it could be worse, but it can also possibly be a lighter one as well. Though this recent one was certainly a start.

I'm kind of glad we weren't on the Source then. We don't have enough pods for eight people to get hurt. But...the simulation rooms continue to surprise me. I never though it'd expand that much.

[ but he smiles slightly. ] We can explore a little if you want when we land. It could be nice since we're only there for a few days. But only if you're more rested and cleared by Io to move.

[ ...aliens. ]

I wish we had more of a way to tell what's coming, but...aliens weren't on my checklist for this tour. There's no pattern either. If I didn't know what path I was taking, I probably wouldn't be able to guess what was happening at all.

Neither have I, it's quite strange.. but given the recent errors and malfunctions I suppose it should call for less surprise. [ And yet here they are! ] Ahaha, don't worry I'll rest more right after our meeting here, I'll be more than fit and raring to go by tomorrow. [ ALIENS. ] At least those alienated beings weren't necessarily real. Just a play on data. Even though they were quite convincing in nature. [ A sigh. ] Were it a predictable enough pattern to learn of it. But at least something else comes of it, does it not? [ Journals and of course those updates that are added to the system. ]

You're probably right that it shouldn't be a huge surprise. But it still is. [ god. ] But okay. Tomorrow it is then, I'll come get you tomorrow or Tuesday and we'll explore together.

[ invisible tailwag. ]

Even if it was just a play on data it was pretty weird. But you're right. Something else comes of it, even if I don't fully understand it. [ ... ] I think this is the first week I've been able to make a choice immediately. So...let's see what we get this time.

[ invis tail wag... ] Having a bit of confidence in your choice making is always a good sign. [ but results... ]

Shoma? Are you alright-?!

[ he's reaching up to use his hand and wipe his tongue off as if there's actually dirt. ]

Metis...why did I just eat dirt.

[caretake]

[ ??? ]

Pardon? [ Looks back at the file, then to him again. ] You tasted.. dirt? ..Was this after receiving the update?

[solesuccess]

Yeah. [ bleh. ] Dirt, and this weird pain. [ a gesture to his head. ] That's...never happened before.

[caretake]

That is... I imagine if you felt something like this before, you would have said something. So what was different this...

[ he doesn't get to speculate because this is happening! all of this is happening, and for a moment he's very, very quiet while he just stares. ]

...Metis, do you want to...explain that a little more, or should I just make my own assumptions? [ bro your crystallization??? ]

[caretake]

[ Bats eyes innocently (no). Metis just looks at him, then sheepishly shrug his shoulders. ]

If it is the crystallizing you are referring to it, that would be because I am connected directly to that Crystal Tower. An important structure back home. The more its powers are used and overwhelmed, the more it affects me.

[solesuccess]

A cause and effect. [ mumbled quietly to himself. ] Is it...I mean is it at all possible to disconnect from the Tower so it doesn't overwhelm you when it becomes overwhelmed itself? That makes it sound like you're the back-up battery.

[caretake]

It is because of my bloodline I am capable of connecting to it begin with. To make use of its functions and protect those I care about.. even if it were possible - disconnecting is not something I want to do.

It is a fate I knew that I was doing going into it. [ It was his decision in the end. ]

[solesuccess]

...I was kind of hoping that wouldn't be your answer, but I think I knew it would be. [ man. ] Are you the last of your bloodline then? The only one who can, I mean.

[ the last line of defense. ]

..That I am. I was the last child born with the Allagan Eye. So I am the only one.

[ MAN INTENSIFIES. ]

Seems kind of like an unfair situation then. [ softly. obviously you're stuck if it's just you, but come on. ] What's the Allagan Eye though?

[caretake]

Hmm, let us start from the beginning. [ Which he seems to have no trouble sharing. ] My ancestor, Desch, was entrusted with safekeeping the royal bloodline by Allag's princess Salina. Desch's descendants would occasionally be born with one red eye, the Allagan Eye, as a sign of this legacy.

[ A hand comes up to gesture to his red eyes. ] Thousands of years later, I was the last child born with the Allagan Eye. ...Some events unfolded in my younger days, but it allowed me full control of the Crystal Tower. Which was only made possible because of that bloodline.

[solesuccess]

[ storytime. he doesn't seem to mind listening either, given he sits up a little taller and he's actively listening. ]

So...you're technically also royalty on top of being the defender of this magical tower? [ is this how final fantasy works. also he's not going to ask what those events are, because that sounds like "everyone died a lot" or "i got left alone" and he thinks it's rude to ask unprompted. ] What about if you had descendants, too?

[ what if peepaw simply had children. ] It sounds like not every descendant had a chance to be born with those eyes.
