ROLE — NAVIGATOR 🧭
NAVIGATOR
welcome, crewmate SHOMA ENDA.
On SUNDAY, once the unfortunate procedures of ... "Execution" has gone over, Shoma will hear the familiar ping of the I.R.I.S. at his wrist; the moment that he lifts up his hand to check what the noise is for, a window immediately pops up. The projection fills in a spread of maroon, and a message sent only to their designation loads in the window.
There is no compulsion to obey the request, but it is an extension of knowledge, and curiosity - and could be interesting.

Shoma Enda,
Unfortunate and ill timing given what's just happened, but mayhaps this invitation can provide some insight into what's to come with these upcoming weeks. I wish I could have done this at a better time but it is a decision that must be made before our next travel destination.
Meet me here as soon as possible and I'll be sure to explain more thoroughly.

METIS
A location pops up on the I.R.I.S. once the message is read, and will indicate where Shoma needs to go to meet with Metis. It will lead to a command room in which only the Senior Crew is allowed access, and an important factor when it comes to navigation. When he gets there, he'll find the COS waiting patiently, observing a line of data and routes illuminated on a panel above the main control that vanishes once they spot Shoma. A brief ! displays on the visor of their helmet before they lead them towards a table for seating with a gesture, some snacks and drinks already prepared.
"Let's have a seat. Ready to go over the details?"

RULES
As the role responsible for navigation, along with information that is acquired, Shoma is expected to follow a few rules:
1. For now, keep your new designation a secret. This can be revisited at a later date. Should this designation be shared with anyone without prior authorization, consequences and termination of position are possible.
2. If you distribute any information acquired, it must be done anonymously or without referencing the source. This can be revisited at a later date.
3. As the Navigator, Shoma will be presented with two/three routes to take in order to reach the Eudora's next stop. Each route will come with a brief description, and Shoma may only choose one. No further details will be offered regarding the route until the following Monday, and each will have its own consequences to bear. If you choose not to act, then a choice will be made for you.
4. Additionally, Shoma may use this time to speak directly with Metis each week. They may ask questions, receive small hints, or simply chat with them, though any information received will be subject to Metis' own discretion.
5. Your findings will be given to you after your decision is made on Sunday, with results of the path chosen announced Monday morning with the new mingle post.

It's possible. Io may be more inclined with medical, but you have your way around tech and machinery, yes? I'm sure you can meet in the middle to find a way to make sense of it. So do give it a try - especially if it'll help.
[ Honestly, mood. Wtf is going on. ]
Of course. [ At that, his head tilts with a flick of his ear. ] Hmm, I know the Source was well known for occasionally having Umbral Winds... I suppose it could be best described as a strong case of winds, of course a bit more than that given our traversing through space and all.
no subject
Yeah, I do. [ he is modest to a point but let's not kid ourselves. ] I'll reach out tomorrow then just to take a look. If we can get any sort of idea...maybe we can stop things before they get bad again this week.
[ mimicking the head tilt. ] The Source? [ but okay hm, heavy winds...not sure if good for staying on course. he sees, he sees. ]
no subject
Ah. The Source is what I refer to as my home world. Though, I was last staying at the First before my arrival here, the First being a reflection of the Source. [ A shake of their head just little home things. Nothing important. ]
no subject
[ but...hmmm. ]
I was gonna pick the middle route this time because I hadn't yet, but high winds buffeting the ship don't sound great. And I'm not sure how I feel about rocks possibly hitting us either. Smog should be fine though? The Eudora has enough high beam lights to get through and see, don't you think?

[ But yeah! Pathways! ]
She should technically speaking yes, though She's also capable of dealing with even nastier weathers and pathways as well. Despite her inner workings, She's quite tough on the outside.
no subject
no, wait, focus, shoma. ]
You're sure? [ listen...he likes you guys but your memeries... ] If that's true, then maybe I'll stick with the pattern after all and go for the one I haven't yet. Winds are bad, but if you think the ship can stay on course without more stuff throwing it off then I think I have my choice.
no subject
Though I am gladden you seek my own opinions and thoughts on it - it is your decision. [ Metis is here to guide through either way. ] We'll make the best of it whichever path we take.
no subject
Then...let's see what kind of information we get this time.
no subject
Let us see. [ Path chosen... good jorb! Takes a moment to start writing something down in a journal rather than his datapad or IRIS. ]
no subject
and he gets this data file and he's just :tails: for a second. looking between the file. then at metis. then the file. then metis again.
okay. hold on. ]
...going back to the old-fashioned way?
no subject
Pardon?
no subject
no subject
[ Tech issues? Yeah. ]

I would rather face it head on than turn a blind eye.
no subject
Do...you remember keeping journal entries like this?
no subject
[ He will read... and as expected, there's a notable wince ow head. Before he shifts his right arm onto his lap with an obvious tension. ] ..It feels vaguely familiar, but that is all, I am afraid.
no subject
Vaguely familiar in what sense? Can you explain?
no subject
It is something I would do. I have written plenty of journals back home, and I had certainly been writing some recently to keep some of my memory in check... but at the moment I do not remember the details of these specific ones.
