ROLE — NAVIGATOR 🧭
NAVIGATOR
welcome, crewmate SHOMA ENDA.
On SUNDAY, once the unfortunate procedures of ... "Execution" has gone over, Shoma will hear the familiar ping of the I.R.I.S. at his wrist; the moment that he lifts up his hand to check what the noise is for, a window immediately pops up. The projection fills in a spread of maroon, and a message sent only to their designation loads in the window.
There is no compulsion to obey the request, but it is an extension of knowledge, and curiosity - and could be interesting.

Shoma Enda,
Unfortunate and ill timing given what's just happened, but mayhaps this invitation can provide some insight into what's to come with these upcoming weeks. I wish I could have done this at a better time but it is a decision that must be made before our next travel destination.
Meet me here as soon as possible and I'll be sure to explain more thoroughly.

METIS
A location pops up on the I.R.I.S. once the message is read, and will indicate where Shoma needs to go to meet with Metis. It will lead to a command room in which only the Senior Crew is allowed access, and an important factor when it comes to navigation. When he gets there, he'll find the COS waiting patiently, observing a line of data and routes illuminated on a panel above the main control that vanishes once they spot Shoma. A brief ! displays on the visor of their helmet before they lead them towards a table for seating with a gesture, some snacks and drinks already prepared.
"Let's have a seat. Ready to go over the details?"

RULES
As the role responsible for navigation, along with information that is acquired, Shoma is expected to follow a few rules:
1. For now, keep your new designation a secret. This can be revisited at a later date. Should this designation be shared with anyone without prior authorization, consequences and termination of position are possible.
2. If you distribute any information acquired, it must be done anonymously or without referencing the source. This can be revisited at a later date.
3. As the Navigator, Shoma will be presented with two/three routes to take in order to reach the Eudora's next stop. Each route will come with a brief description, and Shoma may only choose one. No further details will be offered regarding the route until the following Monday, and each will have its own consequences to bear. If you choose not to act, then a choice will be made for you.
4. Additionally, Shoma may use this time to speak directly with Metis each week. They may ask questions, receive small hints, or simply chat with them, though any information received will be subject to Metis' own discretion.
5. Your findings will be given to you after your decision is made on Sunday, with results of the path chosen announced Monday morning with the new mingle post.

Often than not our upgrades, "wetware" as some of us refer to it, get a bit.. unpleasant. It is nothing we cannot adjust and tweak in the MedBay when we can, it's just... a lot of people have needed the room since their mission. And it is nothing I have not gone through before so I can wait until it's available.
[ ... ] Admittedly, it has been a bit more excruciating this week for some reason, however. And it is not as if we've done anything much differently in our workload so I'm not entirely sure why...

The functionality behind it is a bit beyond my understanding. [ A strained laugh. ] It is normally done by the technology within the MedBay and takes almost about half a day to deal with. Which is difficult to schedule properly with so much work needing to be done.
no subject
There are eight of you. I'm sure you can find at least one of the others to take over for a couple of hours while you heal up.
no subject
...Mayhap I can, but not being able to tend to my work for that long feels..
[ Their voice trails distant, quiet, as if distracted by something. ]
no subject
You kind of have to remember that if you don't take care of this, you might not be able to work, period. I think that's the worse option. [ ... ] Speaking of options. Kind of different ones this week. Any thoughts on the planet we're heading for?
no subject
...A good point. [ A quiet thought. ] Once everyone has taken care of themselves within MedBay, I'll try and schedule a day for myself. As for the planet, hmm..
[ Their free hand swipes fingers over a holographic keyboard, propping up the dossier for the upcoming planet. ] Quite a contrast to the one we just visited, given their environment is more natural, outdoors. Housing hunters that thrive and do well as a means to survive.
no subject
You better. [ but the tone is light, like a joke. he is concerned, but he's satisfied with the agreement and focuses on the next topic. ]
Kind of funny...Mizuki and I were talking about what kind of planet we wanted to visit next and she's the one who brought up nature. She'll probably be happy about that. I was reading the dossier a little to try and get an idea for what the potential paths could be before coming here. Sounds like the locals have adapted pretty well, too. [ there's a light pause. ]
How steady would you say the outside of the Eudora is?
no subject
Haha, you have my word. [ A promise. They nod, humming with thought. ] What better opportunity than now to take a look. Of course, it will be the other set of Senior Crew that will be in charge of the task per this planet, but I hope you can enjoy your time on it while there.
She can manage a lot if not majority of environments through travel. Of course, you witnessed the turbulence She suffered this week but outside that she should be steady enough.
no subject
Even if it's the other set in charge, you guys can still deboard the ship and explore the planet too, right? Or are you bound to it if you aren't working on a task?
[ there's a nod to the second part though. ]
...last week's pick resulted in turbulence when we were grounded, essentially. What would you describe as geomagnetic?
no subject
Oh, yes, of course. There is nothing really barricading us from going down as well. Though we have no reason to really go down ourselves. However, if you request any of us to accompany down, I'm sure any one of them will be welcomed to the idea. [ ..A moment to think. ] Majority of us, that is.
From what I've learned, it is a magnetic storm, temporary disturbance of the magnetosphere. Usually resulting in an increase in plasma movement, or an electric current.. Disturbances are a given while traversing. Quite common here.
no subject
[ he just decides this. but right, okay, geomagnetic. ] Sounds like it'd just shock everybody, so...maybe not that one. I'm not sure how dense frozen clouds are, but...the last time we went through something misty, it was just bumpy. And I'm sure the Eudora knows how to navigate through most of the clouds. Does...the ship have systems in place to maintain a baseline temperature?
no subject
The Eudora should, yes. Proper temperature regulations are in place. However, given her state these past few weeks, one cannot truly say what she will be capable of fully standing up against.
no subject
he does not push the issue about why callisto got that kind of reaction, but he does stop poking their hand. he can address trying to figure it out later, or at least forcibly frogmarch metis to the medbay. ]
I'll keep that in mind. [ hehe. ] She is sort of falling apart. Especially considering what happened today. ...at least even with clouds, there's some light. I don't know if I'd trust the ship to travel in total darkness, and a solar shock might cause even more damage. So I think our best route is the first one.
no subject
To force another crew rather than allow a Senior Crew intervene... I cannot make sense of it. [ Metis was right there, on shift when it happened. A sigh before they nod at the next mention. ] If that is your decision, then we will go with it.
no subject
None of us can either. But it seems like...maybe the ship is doing this on purpose. [ but okay...makes decision!!
and then he does not leave the room as the main control screens lights up. just Looking at metis for a reaction at all before he bothers to ask what the fuck goats have to do with this. ]
no subject
...Hmm. A familiar name. Though, I could have sworn it looked a bit different.

I'm.. not too sure. Perhaps, the area the fleet is within. Mayhap they have moved since their last location?
no subject
There were pink clouds surrounding it. So that gives us an idea of where the fleet might be.
no subject
That could be it. Not that I am too sure where that is.. it seems the coordinates are inclusive.
no subject
Well...I guess it's just information to hang onto for now. I'm not sure what to do with it yet.

Charles has shown me the one he found in the Cargo Bay, and Lady Throne has spoken to me regarding it as well. But that is about all I have seen so far.
