ROLE — NAVIGATOR 🧭

NAVIGATOR
welcome, crewmate SHOMA ENDA.
On SUNDAY, once the unfortunate procedures of ... "Execution" has gone over, Shoma will hear the familiar ping of the I.R.I.S. at his wrist; the moment that he lifts up his hand to check what the noise is for, a window immediately pops up. The projection fills in a spread of maroon, and a message sent only to their designation loads in the window.

There is no compulsion to obey the request, but it is an extension of knowledge, and curiosity - and could be interesting.
Shoma Enda,

Unfortunate and ill timing given what's just happened, but mayhaps this invitation can provide some insight into what's to come with these upcoming weeks. I wish I could have done this at a better time but it is a decision that must be made before our next travel destination.

Meet me here as soon as possible and I'll be sure to explain more thoroughly.
METIS
A location pops up on the I.R.I.S. once the message is read, and will indicate where Shoma needs to go to meet with Metis. It will lead to a command room in which only the Senior Crew is allowed access, and an important factor when it comes to navigation. When he gets there, he'll find the COS waiting patiently, observing a line of data and routes illuminated on a panel above the main control that vanishes once they spot Shoma. A brief ! displays on the visor of their helmet before they lead them towards a table for seating with a gesture, some snacks and drinks already prepared.

"Let's have a seat. Ready to go over the details?"

RULES
As the role responsible for navigation, along with information that is acquired, Shoma is expected to follow a few rules:

1. For now, keep your new designation a secret. This can be revisited at a later date. Should this designation be shared with anyone without prior authorization, consequences and termination of position are possible.
2. If you distribute any information acquired, it must be done anonymously or without referencing the source. This can be revisited at a later date.
3. As the Navigator, Shoma will be presented with two/three routes to take in order to reach the Eudora's next stop. Each route will come with a brief description, and Shoma may only choose one. No further details will be offered regarding the route until the following Monday, and each will have its own consequences to bear. If you choose not to act, then a choice will be made for you.
4. Additionally, Shoma may use this time to speak directly with Metis each week. They may ask questions, receive small hints, or simply chat with them, though any information received will be subject to Metis' own discretion.
5. Your findings will be given to you after your decision is made on Sunday, with results of the path chosen announced Monday morning with the new mingle post.

I'm not entirely certain where, I have to assume the closest planet in our trajectory. But.. I trust Vash, he'll be alright. [ even if he has to worry because bro his water bottle. ] If we could find a way to remove it...

You've worked with him a lot longer than most of us have known him. If you trust him, I trust your judgment. [ ... ] Generally speaking, to get rid of a parasite you need to flush it out. Ingest something that'll wipe it out. But applying that to a ship...we'd have to upload something into the system. Like an antivirus.

[ A nod, leaving that there to focus on the other thing. ]

Presuming it is something internal, that would be the safest course of action. Provide a means for it to fight back. But what if it is external? It may be better to cover all bases depending on what we may potentially uncover yet.

...if it's external couldn't we just deboard and blow up the ship? If we're heading to Nut & Bolt it can't be that hard to get another ship to get us all home.

That is true. Of course, it might need a little convincing with the company to allow us to do so. Blow up one of their esteemed ships, the Eudora, that is. [ Which is a roundabout way from G'raha to say assuming they believe their word and that they aren't crazy. ]
solesuccess: (I'm taking this route)

G'raha, we could bring them on this ship and physically point out the flesh and bone in the walls. That would have to convince them. The pink stuff is everywhere, and there are over 40 witnesses. I get that the Eudora's well-established but if it's parasitic they run the risk of this thing jumping to another ship, too, if it's not removed.

Though we are capable of perceiving now has been quite the road to do so, I simply wonder if it would not hide under another's set of eyes. Or if it truly has given up hiding completely now.

[ A shake of their head, quietly sighing. ] Clearly we have the number and reasonings to provide clear evidence and proof - I suppose I am just running my thoughts out of small likely unnecessary worries.

Luke told me they discovered that this thing can hide in plain site and, like, disguise itself. But considering today I do wonder if it's the latter. [ he's letting a hand sort of knead at the blanket. ] I don't think it's bad to think about the small worries either. They're things we'll have to consider if the big and obvious solutions don't pan out.

It's a possibility. Not one I would not look away from so quickly. The ploy of illusion is certainly not unheard of when I consider the array of magicks back home. [ Even if the thought of that makes one uneasy. ] ..Aye, that we will. Something we can possibly dive into by the 'morrow.
solesuccess: (They say we are what we are)

[personal profile] solesuccess 2024-04-15 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. We don't have magic where I'm from, but it's a pretty common trope in stories and stuff. Illusion. But we won't know what we're really working with until we land...so let's pick.

[ he will go to do that! and promptly be alarmed!

he's just curling back up into a ball in his blanket in his chair, goodbye. ]

...did you hear that just now? [ the heartbeat. ]
