ROLE — SECURITY PATROL 🔦
SECURITY PATROL
welcome, crewmate shu.
Early in the day on TUESDAY, Shu will hear the familiar ping of the I.R.I.S. at his wrist; the moment that he lifts up his hand to check what the noise is for, a window immediately pops up. The projection fills in a spread of blue, and a message sent only to his designation loads in the window.
I have something of a job for you. Pick a location to set up an off-network camera, to catch anything in the area; if the system is going to pull a stunt on us again, we can certainly work smarter, not harder.
If it does, meet me in the morning after the lockdown ends. I've updated some of your credentials so you should be able to get up before anyone else. We can go get the camera, maybe squeeze in a second location before we have to lock down everything and everyone's awake.

ADRASTEA
Come FRIDAY, early in the morning, a message notification sounds again. It's loud enough that it rouses him from a very groggy sleep before anyone else. No one else even twitches at the sound or the blue light, and there's nobody in the halls the moment Shu steps outside, so might as well head to the location that pops up - right?
It indicates where Shu needs to go to meet Adrastea. The walk there is eerie, and lit only by the emergency lights of the ship - a sickly, golden orange in a strip that barely brightens the dark corners. The senior officer can be found easily there, spinning something almost absently around one finger, the other hand cupping their elbow. Once Shu is close enough, they stop spinning the item in their possession and instead toss it at him for him to catch.
It's a flashlight, one with a strap on the end. Huh. Pretty useful, considering the darkness that surrounds them.
Adrastea taps a flashlight of their own against their shoulder, something serious but enigmatic in their filtered voice as their helmet remains blank, only a faint, cool blue glow just barely visible from within. "Let's go."

RULES
As the role responsible for security patrols, along with the information that is acquired on patrol, Shu is expected to follow a few rules:
1. For now, keep your new designation a secret. Should this designation be shared with anyone without prior authorization, consequences and termination of position are possible. This can be revisited at a later date.
↳ As of w2, you can share your role with ONE non-role person.
2. You may use your knowledge during trial to guide, suggest, or prioritize investigations. If you otherwise distribute any information acquired, it must be done anonymously or without referencing the true source. This can be revisited at a later date.
3. Each week, Security Patrol can do the following:
📹 A. one location can be chosen on Tuesday; this location is where the role can place a video camera, completely separate from the Eudora's system, which is tamperproof and will remain hidden until retrieved.
↳ As of w3, you can place TWO cameras in separate locations.
🔎 B. a second location can be chosen Friday, with two chances to pick again if your choice doesn't get a hit; this is the location which can be investigated before the curfew lockdown is lifted and crime scenes are marked restricted areas prior to being locked down.
Currently, junior crew capsules require a valid explanation as to why you want to check or monitor them, and senior crew capsules are off limits. Anywhere else that has been unlocked on the Eudora is fair game.
4. While patrolling on Friday before lockdown lifts, 1 piece of evidence can be retrieved from the location that you visit. Choose wisely.
↳ As of w3, there is a chance to increase this to TWO pieces of evidence depending on the investigation.
☠️ If Security Patrol finds a dead body, this does not count towards the pieces of evidence that can be retrieved, regardless of whether it's physically located or found in their video log. Adrastea will ensure that the body is brought to trial first thing to give the crew a head start.
5. Once you have completed your patrol, you can choose whether to share the recording (if there is one) anonymously on the public network. If you share it privately, the source of it cannot be revealed at this time.

[ YOUR CAMERAS... it's fine we'll cross that bridge later.
for now, adrastea is gone for a bit. shu is left to his own devices like the world's most underqualified fire fighter, but at least he has eyes and enough time to look around for anything important.
like an unconscious, slightly crispy hyena! oh no, the poor lil fella is knocked out cold and has seen better days, but fortunately none of the injuries seem grievous and overall he's just a singed potato that shu can either leave here or take with him.
based on how the pews nearby him are no longer in a neat set of rows, the hyena might have been a doggy-sized missile from the blast radius that he'll see on his camera footage. there are no signs of the other hyena or a clown, however. ]

with the child safe, he'll head back in and have a look around again while keeping the fire in one corner of his eye. is there anything else in here other than just.... fire and burned things. if he moves some of these blankets and pillows will he find anything? ]
no subject
not much can be salvaged directly from the fire while it's going, but he can pull some of the blankies and pillows out by their corners and it'll probably help take some fuel from the blaze. there doesn't appear to be anything in there of note, just more victims to the fire happening in here - based off the placement of the warped canisters, the blankets/pillows came first.
there's also the rest of the room away from the fire, which adrastea does not concern herself with as she comes back with some fire blankets to toss over the fire in an attempt to smother it into something more manageable. ]

he will focus on getting fuel away from the fire then, piling the blankets away from the fire on the far end of pews. and then he'll do a sweep of the room away from the fire. in case anything rolled over here or was left here after the camera was blown off its perch.
adrastea is doing amazing with the fire. get it girl. ]

adrastea is doing this so that shu can focus on the investigation, since she has the ability to warp out of trouble if need be. she's muttering something about her vision at the moment, but it's the one with a Capital V, not her eyesight.
there's the offering basket full of twerk shirts, the confessional box, the confesionalls themselves, more pews... no canisters are visible, but there sure is a mace (weapon) across the room from the fire with enough peeking around and looking for things like rollawayed canisters on the ground. ]

girl your hydro.
quickly digs through the twerk shirt basket just in case, but will also grab this mace. does it look like there's blood on it? between a mace and a wholeass hyena, it's going to be an interesting evidence table tomorrow at trial. wow. ]
... The sooner you can cryo-freeze the room, the better I think. Did the fire blanket work?
no subject
[ she coughs into her elbow, backing up from what she's managed to smother. the fire is... central-ish? to the room at large, leaving the entrance/exit alone and growing from the center of the room towards the podium in front. at least the table, podium, offerings, and confessionals have been left alone... ]
It'll have to do. What did you find there? [ the mace is singed and sooty, but there might not be any blood on it under all of that. why's it maces: the game this spring... ]

[ JUST. A MACE. me wanting to ask more but we're outside of comments and bonus so they are just here with this smothered fire, a mace, a BABY and these unconscious, nearly burned folks outside the door. ]
