ROLE — SECURITY PATROL 🔦
SECURITY PATROL
welcome, crewmate shu.
Early in the day on TUESDAY, Shu will hear the familiar ping of the I.R.I.S. at his wrist; the moment that he lifts up his hand to check what the noise is for, a window immediately pops up. The projection fills in a spread of blue, and a message sent only to his designation loads in the window.
I have something of a job for you. Pick a location to set up an off-network camera, to catch anything in the area; if the system is going to pull a stunt on us again, we can certainly work smarter, not harder.
If it does, meet me in the morning after the lockdown ends. I've updated some of your credentials so you should be able to get up before anyone else. We can go get the camera, maybe squeeze in a second location before we have to lock down everything and everyone's awake.

ADRASTEA
Come FRIDAY, early in the morning, a message notification sounds again. It's loud enough that it rouses him from a very groggy sleep before anyone else. No one else even twitches at the sound or the blue light, and there's nobody in the halls the moment Shu steps outside, so might as well head to the location that pops up - right?
It indicates where Shu needs to go to meet Adrastea. The walk there is eerie, and lit only by the emergency lights of the ship - a sickly, golden orange in a strip that barely brightens the dark corners. The senior officer can be found easily there, spinning something almost absently around one finger, the other hand cupping their elbow. Once Shu is close enough, they stop spinning the item in their possession and instead toss it at him for him to catch.
It's a flashlight, one with a strap on the end. Huh. Pretty useful, considering the darkness that surrounds them.
Adrastea taps a flashlight of their own against their shoulder, something serious but enigmatic in their filtered voice as their helmet remains blank, only a faint, cool blue glow just barely visible from within. "Let's go."

RULES
As the role responsible for security patrols, along with the information that is acquired on patrol, Shu is expected to follow a few rules:
1. For now, keep your new designation a secret. Should this designation be shared with anyone without prior authorization, consequences and termination of position are possible. This can be revisited at a later date.
↳ As of w2, you can share your role with ONE non-role person.
2. You may use your knowledge during trial to guide, suggest, or prioritize investigations. If you otherwise distribute any information acquired, it must be done anonymously or without referencing the true source. This can be revisited at a later date.
3. Each week, Security Patrol can do the following:
📹 A. one location can be chosen on Tuesday; this location is where the role can place a video camera, completely separate from the Eudora's system, which is tamperproof and will remain hidden until retrieved.
↳ As of w3, you can place TWO cameras in separate locations.
🔎 B. a second location can be chosen Friday, with two chances to pick again if your choice doesn't get a hit; this is the location which can be investigated before the curfew lockdown is lifted and crime scenes are marked restricted areas prior to being locked down.
Currently, junior crew capsules require a valid explanation as to why you want to check or monitor them, and senior crew capsules are off limits. Anywhere else that has been unlocked on the Eudora is fair game.
4. While patrolling on Friday before lockdown lifts, 1 piece of evidence can be retrieved from the location that you visit. Choose wisely.
↳ As of w3, there is a chance to increase this to TWO pieces of evidence depending on the investigation.
☠️ If Security Patrol finds a dead body, this does not count towards the pieces of evidence that can be retrieved, regardless of whether it's physically located or found in their video log. Adrastea will ensure that the body is brought to trial first thing to give the crew a head start.
5. Once you have completed your patrol, you can choose whether to share the recording (if there is one) anonymously on the public network. If you share it privately, the source of it cannot be revealed at this time.

SELECTION: CAMERA LOCATIONS (DUE TUESDAY)
no subject
ok there's a camera going in the mega park.
and one going in the lunar rink. ]
no subject
... for a little bit. afterwards, however, two figures come into the lunar rink, one smaller than the other. there's a brief staredown, perhaps, before - chaos erupts, as it so often does in these videos. it's hard to tell who the instigator of the fight is, but eventually the taller figure closes in on the smaller, until there's just a sudden shower of hot dogs being thrown directly at them. as they're startled, the smaller figure sprays something in the taller's face, before trying to flee.
while they're wiping at their face, the taller throws something after the retreating figure. they don't pursue, and are instead trying to clean themself up; afterwards, they pick up something large that they dropped in the fray and exit.
nothing else happens. luckily, no one curfewed here. ]
MEGA PARK
one figure comes closer to the camera, clearly knowing that it's there - good thing it turns out to be adrastea, ruffled but unmasked, while the others are distracted by the dogs in the background. she holds up all ten fingers at first, then two on one hand while pointing to herself with the other. she points at her eyes, after, then the camera, and then turns to rejoin the group.
nothing eventful happens otherwise, for a while. everyone falls asleep as usual, save for adrastea standing vigil over them for an hour until she goes to settle down amongst them.
quiet. all quiet.
and, then, two figures come in and head towards the eastern side of things. it's hard to make out who they are - one taller, one smaller - but what can be seen of them looks reminiscent of the ones in the lunar rink video. there's an obvious fight that happens, even if you can't make out all of the details of it. they go deeper in, the birds in the eastern side of things disturbed, flying away from their perches and outwards from the fighting. it does look like, however, that the taller figure is abruptly lifted upwards into the air - allowing the smaller to attack them, before they're dropped to the ground and attacked again.
the smaller figure leaves, after lingering at the scene of the fight for a little while, obviously moving around but at too far of a distance for details of their activities to be made out.
ELSEWHERE, because of course there's more shenanigans here, another figure comes into the southern area. they're the only one at first, wandering around and looking back over their shoulder periodically. they move away from their original path and disappear into the park, hidden from view of the camera - and from the next figure that comes in, looking around.
they apparently spot something, because they head off in the direction of the first figure's original path, only for them to be ambushed at the bridge. there's a scuffle, before the second - now obviously smaller - figure is incapacitated and they both go falling into the water. it's still.
then, the taller figure is the one that makes it out, moving, before it seems like they're looking around and go back under to look for the smaller person.
when they're both out, the smaller figure is laid on the ground. it's hard to tell what the taller person is doing, but then they leave. nothing else happens for a long while, until this person comes back and leaves something with the body.
after that, they're gone again and nothing further happens. ]
