welcome, crewmates ANISE TATLIN & CHARLES.

On MONDAY morning, Anise and Charles will hear the familiar ping of the I.R.I.S. at their wrists; the moment that they lift up their hands to check what the noise is for, a window immediately pops up. The projection fills in a glitchy spread of warm plum for Anise and cool swirl of minty green for Charles. A message sent only to their employee ID and address loads in the window.

While there's no compulsion to obey either of these requests, they do seem rather interesting, don't they? What's the harm in seeing what Europa and Thebe want to chat about?

Hey Anise, I've got something special for you.

Meet me over at Titan's Call, I have a job that you might find pretty interesting. Don't tell anyone, okay? It's top secret stuff.

Charles,

Head over to Titan's Call as soon as possible, tell no one. You'll be debriefed properly in person. Don't be late.

EUROPA

The location of Titan's Call on the concourse pops up on the I.R.I.S. once the message is read, and will indicate where Anise and Charles should go to meet Thebe and Europa with beams of light leading the way - plum and mint respectively. There, past the entryway of Titan's Call, the two Senior Crew members are waiting inside the bar. The lights have been turned down low and there is one table with some snacks and drinks.

Thebe is sat in a chair at that table, preparing two separate tablets while swinging their legs. A little black cat is curled up comfortably in their lap. Meanwhile, Europa is found close by mostly surveying the area until the two of you show yourselves. They will gesture for them to come in and take a seat, though double-checking the area they came in to ensure no one is following. Once satisfied, they return to Thebe's side to prepare for the debriefing.

"We needed a couple of extra hands to help us out with some important jobs aboard the ship. Europa and I had a chat and we think that you two are up to the task." Thebe will place both tablets on a pair of stands, one with the pixelated face of a rabbit on it, the other with the pixelated face of a rat.

Europa, who remains quiet for the most part finally speaks up, "Let's get started."

RULES

As members of the maintenance crew, Anise and Charles are expected to follow a few rules:

1. For now, keep your new designation a secret. This can be revisited at a later date. Should this designation be shared with anyone without authorization, consequences and termination of position are possible.
2. If you distribute any information acquired, it must be done anonymously or without referencing the source. This can be revisited at a later date.
3. Once a week maintenance crew members will be tasked with accomplishing two jobs:

🐇 The Task Rabbit will be given a new task with each new week. Though the specific tasks may vary, it must be completed before Friday at 9PM EST / 6PM PST. Should they report a successful task completion in time, they may be rewarded. There may be a possibility that the rabbit may be tasked with an AC Kill, which may override other tasks.
🐀 The Pack Rat will be shown a list of three items to pick from. They must then submit the names of three people they would like to give the chosen item. This choice must be made by Tuesday at 9PM EST / 6PM PST. The Pack Rat may aid the Task Rabbit if they so choose with the AC Kill task, but will forfeit their ability to give out an item that week. This will guarantee the AC Killer's protection.

4. Additionally, the Maintenance Crew may use this time to speak directly with Europa and Thebe each week. They may ask questions, receive small hints, or simply chat with them, though any information received will be subject to their own discretion.

[holds out his hand for cat to sniff...]

Did you also have this extra job? [a beat] Any other funnily named jobs we should know about?

[dropoffs]

[ the cat will sniff... and then bunt its head against his hand. hello good boy. ]

We've had similar jobs before as Junior Crew. [ A yes and ] No.

[riverbeans]

[looks at the tablets as he pets the cat. is this physically possible? who knows.]

Is the reward for the Task Rabbit a fun surprise for us, then? ... Also, how are the Pack Rat items helping to maintain the ship, exactly?

[dropoffs]

[ charles is a giraffe now. cat will accept some pettings, thank you. ]

We won't be telling you what is it beforehand, so essentially yes. [ A quiet pause. ] Should something like the previous week strike again, it might be able to provide a helping hand. However, there's a limit to how many you can have active out there if someone decides to not use it.

[riverbeans]

[he frowns a little, thinking of the previous week, before his demeanour returns to its usual casualness. pet pet.]

... So we'd have to pick someone who's not going to just hoard it pointlessly, huh? Good grief, this is trickier than it sounds. [a pause] Do we get an explanation on any of the items?

[HE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW WHAT A FINGERPRINTING KIT IS]

[dropoffs]

[ cat flops over onto its side, gently batting that hand and very mindful of claws. just soft baps ]

If you want to be efficient. [ Europa voice: Be smart. ] No, you do not.

[ Suffer. ]

[riverbeans]

[playfully baps back at the cat's paw]

Wow. Strict. [...] How personal does the "personal conversation" have to be?

[dropoffs]

[ Of course it's strict, it's work... cat's tail starts to swish wildly, before sudden zoomies to Thebe. Goodbye cat. ]

What would you consider personal?

[ This is a geunine question. ]

[riverbeans]

[goodbye cat...]

If I answer that, does that become the criteria?

[dropoffs]

Personal matters are outside my understanding. The criteria will be based on what Thebe believes to be personal otherwise.

[ No loopholes. ]

[riverbeans]

Mm... well, I'd probably define "personal" as discussing things that I wouldn't easily share with someone I don't know well.

Does it have to be personal on our end, or is it fine if it's personal on the other party's side?

[dropoffs]

That's a start. [ At that, they glance in Thebe's direction concerning more "personal" questions. ] Thebe will be able to answer you more on that.

Otherwise, we need you both to understand that these positions cannot be shared with anyone else in your crew. You can talk amongst yourselves here regarding these roles, or outside here in private - but no one else can know of these.

[riverbeans]

Which does make the task a little challenging, if we can't just drop our life story on someone without warning. I'm guessing we have to approach the task discreetly?

[dropoffs]

You catch on quickly.

[ Which they say in a sincere manner despite the monotone. ]

You don't want to draw too much attention regarding your tasks. Be "natural."

[riverbeans]

Well, if nothing else, I get the feeling the little miss and I are both decent actors...

[looks at the tablets again]

Do the items change each week?

[dropoffs]

[ A nod. ]

A high chance it'll be a completely new list of items. And any item you do choose won't make another appearance.

[riverbeans]

Does that mean any item we don't choose could still show up again, however unlikely?

[dropoffs]

[ thebe just picks up the cat, holding him in their arms and one of their little ear-like antennae twitches. ]

Oh. You... don't have to make it complicated. Just reach out to three people you don't know that well or maybe avoid more than most. Have a good conversation with them. Doesn't have to be personal personal. Just one-on-one, you know?

[ looks at europa and just paps shoulder very gently. ]

[dropoffs]

[ Receives this shoulder pap and huffs lightly. You knew this would happen, Thebe. ]

[dropoffs]

[ they may have but look you need the Exposure Therapy. their ears just twitch a little at them. ]

[dropoffs]

[ They really don't!! Their own two antennae fold back. ]

[riverbeans]

Ah. Well, that sounds easy enough. Anise has got this in the bag, in that case.
