MISSIONS (or: CYOAS).

MISSION ASSIGNMENTS
fuck around and find out... in space!

A CYOA (Choose Your Own Adventure) is a plotted event that is threaded in private in which specific characters can obtain plot-relevant information or exclusive items. Players sign up and are assigned to groups. The groups will then go on an adventure, which is threaded out, and based on meeting certain conditions may receive plot information, special items, or may face injury or death. More information about these will arise IC-ly as the game goes on.

CYOAs also require frequent tagging over the course of a week and coordination with your fellow players on timing and your schedule. Please sign up aware of your schedule for that week and that, for the most part, you will be able to tag throughout the week.

In this game, we will have three types of CYOAs - mod run CYOAs, Player CYOAS, and mini CYOAs.

Mod-Run CYOAs will involve heavy mod participation. Each week, you may sign up by Monday at 6 PM EST, and your character may be chosen to go on a mod-directed adventure. Players will be semi-randomly rolled to participate, but we will also do our best to ensure everyone in the group has similar schedules to ensure maximum boomeranging.

These adventures will be tagged over the course of the week, with certain objectives. Players will have a chance to gain plot information and items, but in these mod adventures, there will also be a high risk of injury or death. Please sign-up aware that your character may be injured or killed, even if you complete the objectives.

Player-Run CYOAs are similar to the above, but are run by a player in the game instead of a mod. There will be less mod participation in these CYOAs, but there will still be opportunities to gain plot info or items, and there will also be a risk of injury or death. What happens in them will be up to the players who submit proposals, with some input and assistance from the mod team.

Both types of adventures must be completed by Friday at 12 PM EST / 9 AM PST, but will ideally be finished by Thursday evening if not sooner.

If you aren't picked to participate in a CYOA a given week, feel free to keep signing up in future weeks. If you've been selected in a previous week, you can still sign up, but priority will be given first to those who haven't had a chance yet. We do not guarantee every player will have a chance to participate in a CYOA.

Mini CYOAS are another option for players who are looking for a small adventure to participate and explore new areas. You may sign up for these at any time during any week, but we do ask that players limit themselves to one a week, and we will not take more than three per week. Mini CYOAs are a good way to investigate new areas more closely and dig into things you may not learn right away at first glance. These adventures will be much shorter than a standard CYOA and will involve direct communication with the mod team.

Please use the sign-ups below to sign up for a CYOA. You should also indicate if you would be willing, if not picked for a mod-run CYOA, to be rolled for a Player-run CYOA instead.

ON PLAYER-RUN CYOAS
Players who would be interested in running a CYOA for a group of 2-3 other players can submit a proposal below. Similar to signing up for a CYOA, players who sign up to run a CYOA should be sure of their schedule for that week and that they will be able to tag fairly consistently. Although the deadline for proposals is at Sunday at 9 PM EST / 6 PM PST, we encourage you to sign up even earlier if interested so the mods can help you coordinate.

To submit a proposal, you only need a rough outline of what you intend to do in your CYOA. Your CYOA should be something related to your character, their memories, or their canon in some way, but beyond that, it is flexible. You might take inspiration from an episode of your character's canon, or a certain level in the game they come from, or you might simply allow players to explore a place familiar to them.

The important thing a proposal should include is tasks players can accomplish, challenges they have to overcome, and and objectives they should achieve. You can also include danger or the chance to fail. Make sure what you want the players to do is something that they can accomplish before the Friday deadline. This will be a hard OOC deadline, and any threads that aren't wrapped up by then won't be able to be backtagged further.

For an example of player-run CYOAs, you can read this example of a player-run CYOA for an idea of what to expect. You can also check out the plotting doc for it here. Alternatively, you can contact Char, Hei, Snow and Zetsu and we can help you brainstorm ideas.
