As I have mentioned before in the lore plurk, Blade more or less considered her initially as someone who was weak, timid, and most likely able to be used to further his own twisted ends. After all, she seemed like the type who would get people to like her due to that kind of nature; like a wounded rabbit people wished to take care of. People are always very predictable creatures, so here was the thought - and it took a little while for it to get better even after her extensive combat skills. A viable target who could fight back, but...
It slowly started to. Somehow. Turn into more than that? Hints of this being like even sprinkled when those Norn showed and he was actually not cool with her getting injured the way she did. Not that he even understood that he felt that sort of sentiment. And yeah, in between that, there was undeniably the whole entire little shopping spree they went on in the very same week with the softness in the convo. (He still is keeping those ear cuffs, pft)
Anyways, Week 2 definitely was the turning point in their CR on his end, I feel. Him starting to care in various ways (and also being a disaster there closes eyes), and his biases meaning that he would immediately speak up even just a bit when that trial happened. Because naturally, he would be far more interested in suspicion not landing on Yuri, but anyways.
Blade is also not blind. He is very cognizant of people, where or who they gravitated to at times, so he was actually also grateful she clearly had a large support network so that he observed any single time anything happened in her direction, others would help too. He started to become one of those...even if he'd 99% never admit it. Just like the fact that he wouldn't about the idea of her being dead for potentially for reals during Dion's execution.
Eventually, he did end up coming to terms he fell for her, but all the same, he didn't care too much for acting on those feelings for certain reasons. What mattered most of all was that she became someone irrevocably important to him. Someone he would literally kill for, and die for; as time went on, he also realized it didn't matter that she had a large support network. Even if everyone was reaching their hands out to her, he should too. This revelation was at first something subconsciously...and then it started being consistent. Which, I think, he did more with her, in his own way, because Blade isn't the type of person to mince words when he does anything, even "support"
Also whenever he happened to 'successfully' enact that support or made her feel better, he felt so satisfied, man. He is terrible at this thing, so it's such a huge win, mmmkay?
Maybe what the most extremely funny part about this is Blade thinking that despite all of this development going on, he didn't quite figure he was that important from her point of view. So, gestures to everything happening following CYOA was a big surprise, and oh...
I think one important thing I want to talk about here that I don't think I covered at all in the lore plurk was that he trusted Yuri a great deal. Which is how she got/gets away with certain things 1-2 people would, lmao, but also just thinking about how she was one of the few people he discussed like, legit things even briefly about the situation beyond his little pepe silvia cringe moment in the beginning with her is like. Yeah.
So, this comes to a head where she can basically seriously do things like convince him to do certain things. Blade is a particularly willful person, where even he does whatever he wants, and his opinion/expectations of others is generally low so his cooperation in anything is dubious, but if she asks for help he'd be there in a heartbeat (see the blockade), etc. Also, seriously speaking to elaborate on this other matter more, it is what made it possible for him to accept the cool down hug at all, whereas otherwise he'd have just. Not. And the teasing/back and forth between them, which he'd likely not otherwise entertain/shut it down rudely.
But nah, she unlocked that. Anyway, Yuri is one of the very few who would be undeniably an important friend in his life (he would say outloud "close ally" because he's still slightly allergic) and even with the response in the parting thread given, she can actually expect him to do something he hates doing and like...
Occasionally respond with his phone to the pictures she sends. Silver Wolf and Kafka are going to catch him doing that at least twice and he is going to 8| about the reactions he'll get, but it'd be hilarious because I am guilty of loving my comedy
Anyway, I enjoyed their CR a lot. It's always fun playing with your characters, Haki, but you really knocked it out of the park with Yuri. I'm looking forward, as usual, to wherever we happen to play together again. :3c
