Blade struck fear into Yuri's heart when they first met because he looked scary. And then she struck a conversation with him in Titan's Call after closing and then learned about how this man's name is Blade (major) because he wields a blade (minor). Also that he's fight-happy, considering he asked her about her combat ability.
And then this man went insane conspiracy mode on her after the w0 trial and she was like #_O but this did sort of help her determination and resolve after spending a week with people who were nothing but nice to her.
Then they actually fought in the sim room. Yuri knew she was no match for a seasoned fighter like he was, but she did feel proud of herself for getting something on him, so it was like a moment of clarity that she could do something after all, even if Blade is way out of her league. Blade was really, really good at strengthening Yuri's resolve and determination really early on. He didn't have to be nice to support her, because this worked just as well too. I think the one of the turning points of Yuri starting to see Blade as not so scary was when she brought up Ichiban as in "go talk to him for more info" in a "make some friends" kind of way and it kinda want to make her root for Blade...
Then Yuri saw the aftermath of Blade turning into a crabby crab and that was funny. It really helped with the "he's not that scary" image, which enabled her to approach him about whether he'd get a tattoo, because she thought it would suit him. Then she worried about how leather gloves wouldn't suit her and... Blade was like "that's stupid. wear them anyway." and his response to her thanks was so... soft............ and as thanks, she picked out ear cuffs for him and she was happy that he seemed to like it.
It's really interesting how when I go through their PCs, it's just them slowly warming up to each other--Yuri becoming less scared of Blade and becoming fond. Blade socializing with someone that he doesn't actually hate. They got to know each other better and their circumstances too, that really shed a light on things during memshare. It also felt like that helped Yuri understand Blade a little more. I think it was this week where Yuri returned from her CYOA that she's really started to relax around him. In a way, she trusts him at that point to do certain things and she felt friendly enough to even crack a joke "you laugh more than Europa does" lmao. This is also the first time that she's had a friendship be like this before other than "befriending a nonhuman sorta insane immortal guy". Like... she could make playful jabs at someone. Yuri's not the kind of person to laugh at someone's suffering (slapstick, etc), no matter how minor so it was very very new to her. And... she liked it. That's what makes Blade unique from her other friendships, and I don't think she's actually like this to anyone else. And since Blade is always hung up on being aloof and a nutty at times, Yuri really wanted to help him, even if it was basically forcing what she thought was the right thing to do. That's why she suggested things like "making new memories", "don't let anyone take away [your right to choose], and going to the luxury spa together on Station Rodin. She was really invested in trying to get Blade to open up and enjoy life, even if it's the small things.
Truly, despite everything, Blade is a friend that she definitely won't forget about. She'll send him pictures and messages every now and then through the IRIS and ask him if he wants to play tetris some time. I personally think it would be funny if Silver Wolf caught him trying to do that lmao
