[ the boy shakes his head a little bit, turning to his bag and fishing out a glass bottle that looks like it's full of water. he uncorks it. ]

[ the surface of the bottle, polished and shiny, is so clean compared to his grubby, herb-pulling hands. he drinks from the water, but doesn't look any better for it. ]
Gotta make sure you stay hydrated and eat well too... or it'll kill you if you're not careful. That's what the old man used to say.
[ he's watching this, patiently waiting as he looks at the glass for a brief moment. it's a stark contrast from everything else, he thinks, and he goes quiet while he lets the boy drink. ]
