[ whoa. the sacrifice. the cyoa will remember this. you've done well today. you may stand with pride, shrimpback.
with all three of you co-operating for the friendliest hug that the academy has ever seen, its arms raise ceiling ward one last time.
confetti blasts out of the mannequin's mouth, covering the three of you unless you pass a dex check 15. or take it. that's between you and your sister weaver.
anyway, the door parts--turns out it was two with an invisible seam betwixt!--and opens out to another stairwell, this one much wider than the last, but only descending (so no more fussy choices to make). ]
YOUUUU DID IT! You truly were ready! You may now access lunch!
[When the confetti bursts Sora in a hurry lets go of Scien and Nero, stepping back like she's trying to avoid, like, lava instead of tiny pieces of shredded paper.
She turns her head towards the tiefling]
You...we still have to talk. Your name eludes me for now, though. You should start with that.
[ tiefling kid grins. he has dimples and dark grey freckles, how could you dislike this perfect boy? ]
Probably 'cause I didn't say it.
[ he follows the three into the stairwell beyond, waiting for the doors to shut of their own accord behind them. once they are firmly shut, seam again impossible to see, he gives them a knock. sounds solid. ]
All right, now we can talk freely for a minute. I'm Suk'Ram Tess. I was one of the guys who helped Elonine get out. Before she left, she said you'd be up for the same if it worked.
Lucky for you, it's prepaid and I'm too honorable-- [ it's okay to have doubts ]-- to double charge you. But it's different from last time. Elonine was one person and a bastard. To get all three of you out at once, we're going the living route. A proper escape. All you have to do is get down to the docks. I already prepared you help hidden on one of the ships. You won't have any trouble once you arrive.
[ yay, the good news. let that sink in for a second. ]
The problem is the praepostors who will definitely try to stop you and maybe the dean if he's out of his office.
[ suk'ram synthesizes these questions like a champ. you can tell why he's the school's fixer, eh? drops the teal font since it's only him ]
The praepostors are dangerous but can be bought off or beaten, depending on your style. I wouldn't fight the dean head-on, that freak's a master wizard.
[ glance at nero ]
I can say that, I'm on the magic track, too. Moving on. The ship is The Eudora. Can't miss it. And, uh. Usually praeposters are traveling in a pack of three while the dean's one really powerful guy.
Sure. You just have to keep traveling down, but they put the stairwells on opposite sides of the building to make it troublesome. Next floor will be the messhall and some classrooms. Lunch is happening, so you should be able to do that quick if you don't let anything distract you. Then next floor, all classrooms and the main hall. Again, I wouldn't worry about it. But the last floor is heavily monitored. The front doors aren't locked, but usually someone's around.
[ suk'ram pauses. a sidelong look at sora but then his gaze shifts quickly onto nero and scien as well. ]
They have weaknesses, but nothing you can depend on. Be ready to defend yourselves. Remember our combat instructional courses from first semester and you'll be able to hold your own. I don't know about the dean.
[ he nods in response to nero ]
Brofiise is on the Sciences track and Jingu is stuck in Finishing with most of the girls.
[Sora bows her head politely and exhales. The course of action seems clear enough...and hey, it's a relief to see they won't have to improvise ship piloting after all! Sora is satisfied with the information received]
We'll tell her that. I'm sure we'll see her before long.
[Or not, because Nodd is currently alive instead of in the graveyard, so nah. Giving Suk'ram one last word of thanks, she departs down the stairs, ready to continue the grand escape]

Sounds surprisingly straightforward. How much of a threat are these praepostors and dean?
no subject
[Judging by the hubbub from earlier...so yeah, no choice but to go forward with the plan of escape]
On which ship is the help at?

[eyes narrow. eudora? scien will briefly glance to the others before looking back to suk'ram]
Explain the path to us.

Do these praeposters have any weaknesses?

Thinks about how sword burst only works in the area 5 feet around him. If they're decent at sneaking, they should be much further away than that. ]
Are they on different tracks?

If you see Elonine again, tell her we miss her but understand. I'd do the same thing in that position.
[ if you want to say something in farewell, please do, otherwise continues down the stairs while I set up the next scene. ]
