[ howdy friends! this is a short ship exploration event that we have prepared for you, as both of you have submitted into our ship exploration mechanic. what this means is that you have both been RNG'd together to experience this particular part of the ship.

as it is memory share week, we have decided to try and ease the lift that extra threads can cause during this particular weekly effect and will instead be writing up a straight encounter that requires no replies on your part, though you may RP out the scenario in a PC if you so desire. if you have any questions about this particular "encounter" please feel free to talk to us in your mod DMs! that being said, let's roll.
]

The hallway feels strangely long, as the two of you begin walking down it in an attempt to approach the locked door in this recently released grid of the ship. But you do get closer, step by step, slowly but surely, as the quiet sound of rainfall begins to fill up the area - but there's no visible rain, no drops on your skin, nothing wet to go with the noise. This rain is followed by the sound of wind whipping through - well, nothing in reality, but your senses tell you that there's trees, leaves, even stone. It whistles through unseen crevices.

Above your heads, the overhead lighting of the hall suddenly flickers like lightning before it's followed by a crack of thunder. The storm is close by, raging, building up to a crescendo as the two of you get closer and closer to the door. You could turn back, but it almost feels like if you do, if you don't finish this walk... then you might turn around and find yourself on the precipice of something. A sudden drop, an impassible wall, the sense of dread, of danger.

Another flash of "lightning," another roiling rumble of thunder.

Calling voices follow the cacophony of noise; soft, hushed whispers of loved ones, of new friends, of old enemies. All of them rush up upon your heels, as if chasing you or urging you on. It's hard to tell, with the mix of cries that call out.

And then, the lights die without warning. Not even the emergency lighting that runs in a streak along the floor come on.

BANG

BANG

BANG!

The lights abruptly come back on, and the door to the unlocked door is opened - right in front of the both of you.

You're able to look in.

Description of the location: A room built to survey the entirety of the ship, the Security Room is a narrow lounge with screens built high up and also spread out along the walls, as though to sit right in someone's periphery. There are a few screens on armatures as well, as though meant to be pulled towards or pushed away from as desired. A comfortable chair sits in the center of this, capable of spinning a full 360 degrees, with a matching pullout foot rest underneath the desk. The desk beneath the screens is kept organized and neat, with stacks of datapads, binders, and (surprisingly) paper books. The room has an oddly lived in feel, including a futuristic mug warmer seated on the desk next to where the holographic keyboard is projected for comfortable typing.

A mug of strong smelling tea has been left on the desk, half-drank and cooled, as if the person that was enjoying it had forgotten the dregs of it before leaving it there. A blue jacket with a white, furred ruff is hanging off of the back of the chair. Above the desk is a slatted vent with a few rungs of a ladder built into the shaft of it, visible through the slats even with the hatch to it locked and closed, allowing someone to climb up into access tunnels of the ship itself.

Propped up against the wall, outside of the door and in the hall that you came down, is a damaged datapad. The good news is that the only file on it is still accessible.

[ and that is the end of the encounter! you may play this out however you like in a PC, but if you do intend to do damage to the area/break anything, just place it in location changes and ping your mods with a link to your reply so that we can record it in a timely fashion. you may take this datapad and share the information on it with other members of the crew at your discretion, though we would like to see this information make the rounds at least a few times! ]
