Allow the person that you speak with to lead the conversation, and pay close attention to what they say. Sometimes, a non answer is just as useful as a full answer, too. If this is a party, there will likely be alcohol flowing, which can be helpful in loosening lips.
We've got the anonymity to rely on, as well. If someone starts to get suspicious, or begins asking you too many questions, then you can use that to escape a conversation you aren't comfortable in - and we can also rely upon each other.
