Every now and then. I think it's a bit of growing pains - we updated the Eudora's systems, so she's getting used to all of the new upgrades and information.

Is that why... there are these irregularities among the crew?

Irregularities how? If you're talking about the - [ gestures... at their helmet? indicating thoughts. ] - that would be interference from space, affecting our bodies. The nanites are actually keeping it from being worse.

The, ah, things that power the I.R.I.S. and give you access to parts of the ship, boost your immunity to illness and expedite healing in the medbay. It's temporary, though.

[agamid]

Temporary? For how long?

[ space causes drift?? wild ]

Maybe a week at most? [ tilting their head ] They're cosmoelectromagnetic waves that can impact our minds and bodies, although it's pretty harmless - just kind of inconvenient. It's mitigated to some degree while the Eudora and on planets, at least.

[agamid]

And even you are not immune? Is it not dangerous for your thoughts and emotions to be shared with the rest of us?

[dropoffs]

We are, yes, although I wouldn't say it was dangerous necessarily. At least in my case, I have nothing to hide.

And in some ways, I feel like it helps a little with transparency from our end for you all to be able have a sense of us. No kept secrets.

[agamid]

[ glances at the helmet ]

Ha... required by our contracts while we're training, otherwise many of us wouldn't wear them. It's meant to retain professionalism - though it feels more like it aientates, doesn't it?

[agamid]

Indeed. It is difficult to trust a person without knowing their face.

I should hope the sentiment doesn't offend.

[dropoffs]

No, not at all. I don't blame anyone that feels that way.

We can probably find a loophole or leniency as the tour goes on, but I'm not sure when that'd be.

[agamid]

... I wasn't aware that any of your were the sort to seek out loopholes.

[ huh, he looks a lil surprised ]

[ they laugh lightly. ]

Some more than others, but it depends on the rule we're working with. This one... a lot of us really think that it's kind of useless as far as rules go.

[agamid]

[ tilts his head ]

So this device on our wrist is not monitoring our conversations alongside our condition.

[dropoffs]

No, no. It logs what you write just because it goes into the system to be transferred to one another, but it doesn't monitor what you all say. Or what we say.

It does log what rooms you go into when you have authorization for them, like the galley or your rooms, but that's just security in case something happens like we have to evacuate.

[agamid]

[ huh ]

That seems like quite an oversight. Though I suppose if it is constantly listening, it is quite a large volume of information to sift through.

[dropoffs]

We do have a security feed that monitors public areas via images, and sound where possible. But Adrastea is the one that monitors that and loops us in if something needs all of us to look at it.

That alone is a lot of information, though, so tracking conversations would be quite the effort.

[agamid]

I suppose our employers have little reason to be so distrustful of us in the first place?

[dropoffs]

Not especially, no. For the most part it's a pretty lenient company - and usually there's an extensive check into employee backgrounds. This time... well, we're pretty sure something got very messed up with you guys.

[agamid]

Does it concern you?

[dropoffs]

It does. It concerns me a great deal. The lack of consent, of information... foresight. It's troubling. We didn't know we were going to have you guys on board until a few days before we went to pick you up.

[agamid]

[ he nods... those are all troubling things ]

If I may ask, why have you enlisted in this company? A passion for parcels?

[dropoffs]

For the stars, more like. While the primary function of the company is running delivery routes, there's also the chance for space exploration in the process. I've always wanted to explore the stars - so it was an ample opportunity to help people out and do just that.

[agamid]

[ huh. he tilts his head. ]

You preferred to see the stars to your home and those you love?
