[ what if ganymede just picks up kosmo like a baby? what if he did that. he's going to, bringing him up so that he can get his paws over his shoulder and his arm under his lil hindlegs. oof. ]
We don't... really know what'd happen to somebody if they weren't guilty. It's already bad enough, what happens to the people that are. I just swapped brig shifts with another officer to stretch my legs and I hate that we have to do that in the first place.
The way things are, you'd be able to majority vote an innocent person out of the brig. But that's only if they survived their stay.
[ kosmo is now being held like baby and he is so pleased. good thing he's little now. ]
And with the track record we have, that's probably next to impossible. [ runs a hand through his hair and just sighs. shoulders slumping. ]
I'm glad we didn't get it wrong, though I'm sure it was close as hell, with that stunt he pulled. [ has to look back out the window, away from ganymede. ]
Like, I get it, wanting to take the fall for someone else, especially when you care about them more than yourself. But we just can't afford to do that here. We can't lose focus and start to spiral, it won't get us anywhere.
[ if anyone could manage to hold a full sized kosmo, it's probably gan.
but he's silent for a moment as he holds the littler version, staring out at space through his helmet, pensive. tense. he's never liked not having answers; that much was apparent when he was part of voltron, nevermind an officer on the eudora. ]
... maybe. I haven't looked at what the vote spread wound up being, and I'm not sure I really want to. I just know that Dion hit the majority.
[ after a beat, he reaches his free hand out and grips keith's wrist. gently, but firmly. i get it, wanting to take the fall for someone else, especially when you care about them more than yourself. ]
I know... this isn't exactly the best moment for it, probably. Or maybe it is. The high tension situation, being what it is, making things even more stark. But I'm proud of you.
[ true facts. he got the muscle... maybe kosmo will be full size at endgame and we can test this theory :thonk:
the grip startles him, breaking him from where he was staring out towards the stars, his head turning to look at ganymede. he might not be able to see his face right now, but keith can probably guess the kind of look that is there. something he's seen before... something he wishes he could actually see now. but it's fine, gan's words are enough to evoke a reaction out of him. ]
I- [ praise. praise from this person has always kept him going. always gotten him to press forward and not dwell on the negative. but here... ] I've barely done anything. Not like there's much I can do here anyways, but... [ maybe that's not what ganymede meant, but either way, he deflects. i'm sorry.......
his hand curls into a fist. he doesn't move it, doesn't pull away from the hand around his wrist. they can stay like this for a moment. but he does avert his gaze again, looking at kosmo and then looking elsewhere.]

kosmo reaches out a paw and paps at his leggy. keith let's out an exhausted noise. ]
It was a fucking disaster. The idiot really tried to take the fall for Dion, which he would have ended up regretting.
