[ bububu baby. muted affection comes through the emotionshare vibes here. their thoughts are an enigma though. ]
That's alright, I don't mind if he wants to come see me. Maybe I'll start carrying treats on me. Bet you'd like that, huh, buddy? [ carefully scratches under chin with their gloved hand. ] I'll see if I can't find out for you, though. Just to satiate curiosity.
In the meantime, how're you doing? Settling in? I saw that you already have experience in space, so...
[ kosmo now doing the lil air lick thing, his eyes closed. safe to say he would like that very much!! ] I appreciate it, thanks.
Yeah... it's pretty similar, in terms of being on a ship in the middle of space. Our rooms remind me a lot of the ones we had in the castle, except we didn't have to share there. [ there's a hint of sadness there, almost like loss. ] Charles is good company though, and Kosmo seems to really like him.
[ a low, synthetic laugh escapes ganymede through the helmet. awww. dogs are so goofy. even space ones. ]
You got it, Kosmo. [ but the fondness and humor fade into calm again when they get that sense of loss. ] Yeah, I spoke with Charles. Seems like a good guy to have around.
[ seeing this interaction, between ganymede and kosmo, is healing… ]
Yeah, i think I lucked out with having him as my roommate. [ he blinks, not having realized his emotions shifted like that. help. ]
Oh, uh, the Castle of Lions. It’s where everything started for Voltron. But we had to sacrifice it a while back… and while the Atlas is cool and all, it’s not quite the same. [ the slight sadness still lingers. ] It was the best ship I’ve ever had the pleasure to be on. Lot’s of memories.
[ the emotion that comes off them is like a :grimacing: face from another room. yikes. ]
Some of the rooming arrangements sure did pan out strangely, I really wish we knew the logic behind it. But they were already generated when you guys were delivered. [ so. here they are.
they fall silent, yikes emotion fading into calm again as they respectfully take this information is. something sympathetically wistful replaces it. ]
I can understand that. Hard to let go of memories, no matter what the change winds up being. Home sweet home, right? But it's good that you can hold onto those memories you made while you were there.
[ he nods along to that, feeling very thankful for his rng. :amen:]
The good and the bad, every last one. [ he feels calm, the sadness turning into fondness. ] Probably the first place that really felt like home. The people aren’t too bad either, even if we all did kinda hate each other at the start.
[ he laughs a little at that. ] We’ve come a loooong way.
[ then he suddenly feels embarrassed, because he sure has just been pouring his emotions and heart out, to someone he doesn’t even know. oops.]
[ looking up at him from where they're seated, they try to give some sort of consoling vibe considering the fact keith can't see their face. ]
I'm trying not to be too invasive about this week's interference, but. You don't have to worry about feeling that way. [ embarrassed, they mean. ] Secret's safe with me - although, I don't think anyone should keep that kind of thing a secret. You're proud of your home, and the people that made it that way, and I think that's a great thing.
Oh, uh...thanks. [ help, he's so awkward. ] I appreciate it.
[ that actually makes him feel so much better?? like his emotions are still kinda sad, but more of a longing... missing home... ]
I just hope they're doing alright without me, which I'm sure they are. [ wouldn't be the first time ] As long as they're safe.
What about you and the rest of the senior crew? Could you go back home, if you wanted... [ this is partly, he's tired of talking about himself and being genuinely curious. ]
[ keith kogane is the most awkward baby boy in the world but we love him anyways. ]
The good news is that we've looked at everyone's contracts, and even if you guys didn't actually consent to being here... it's still written in that you can be returned to the point in time that you left from. So they might not even realize that you were gone for a couple of weeks.
[ smashcut to seven weeks later ]
Oh, yeah. Some people use the off season between tours to spend time back on their homeworlds - but we volunteered to run skeleton crew while the Eudora was updated and keep an eye on the construction drones. But whenever I decide to retire, or if I want to leave earlier... yeah, I could.
[ there is an instant wave of relief that washes over him, when he hears that, and he let's out a long breath that he'd been holding in. ]
That's huge...and helps me feel waaaay better. [ there's a small bit of amusement, but it fades away pretty quick. the weird time stuff is familiar, while not exact, it'll make for an interesting story later on. ]
Well judging by your profile, I doubt you'll be retiring anytime soon. [ damn ] But you guys should consider taking a break after everything is done, go back home and see people who have been missing you. [ his emotions soften. ] Space is great, don't get me wrong, but there's nothing more secure than solid ground.
[ it's weird therapy with an npc hours apparently. not sure who is who tho. ]
[ the relief is interesting, because ganymede doesn't actually know about your timey wimey trip! but they seem glad for it, if the vibe is anything to go by.
although they are a little surprised that they're being roped into the NPC therapy hour, too. hello. help. ]
I might. I got recruited by Nut & Bolt when they contracted with my homeworld, but I'd just given my position to another person, so it worked out. I was proud to see them take charge, and figured it would be worth seeing what the Eudora could show me.
Might be nice to go back and see everyone again, though. Maybe after this spring tour is over I'll take a bit of time to head back. [ contemplative, but a tepid happiness nonetheless at the idea. ] Just need to finish all the work I have, first.
Sounds like you have a big support system to go back to, it'll be a warm welcome then.
[ that's good to hear! as someone who's had to go away from is own before and not know when he'd be back... he gets it. though something tells him ganymede's welcome home party is going to be much bigger. ] It'll be nice to see how well they've been doing, especially the person you handed your hat to. Hope work goes smooth and you get back to them soon.
[ while they've been having impromptu therapy, kosmo has made himself comfortable, with his head on ganymede's lap. snoozing... little puppy snores... ]
Sounds like you'd be getting a good one, too. I think we're both lucky.
[ amicable, but sincere, like there's a smile in their voice even if keith can't see it. but when they look down they seem like they're surprised that kosmo has decided to use them as a nappy spot. blessed......
... they very, very carefully stroke over his ears. pet. ]
I'm sure you get it. It's hard not to miss something you call home, whether it's a place or it's people. But I'm also lucky in that the officers here on the Eudora are good people to spend time with. We're not all close friends, just the nature of a mix of personalities, but some of us are, and I know they all have my back when I need it.
