Oh, but there's something I was wondering about. How come there are three people assigned to my room? There's an empty room at the end of the hall, isn't there?
That's what we've been wondering, too. Room 20's sort of off the grid, for some reason, so we haven't been able to get into it when normally the door locks for your rooms are a whole heck of a lot easier to fix than the stasis bay doors.
Nut & Bolt did the rooming assignments when they sent us the dockets with your profiles and contracts, so we're left trying to find the logic.
Sad, right? We have all this technology, but these doors are really messing with us.
[ it's like they're a dnd party. (no) ]
We're trying to get the room back onto the grid so that we can maybe put Sidon in there and shift one of you to room with Captain Lovelace, but... we'll see what happens. I think a requisition was made for your room to bring a cot while we wait on blueprints for bunk structures we can build and add on to rooms, though.
Oh! That's a good idea. Luke said he'll let me and Margaret use the room at night, which is really nice of him! But it feels kind of mean to make him stay outside for the whole tour, or however long we end up being here.
Strihiria! It's a somewhat nocturnal planet, due to the distance from its nearest star, its sun, but it's fairly densely populated. We're making a delivery during an eclipse, if I remember right.
[ reaching up to rub the side of their neck as they think, a dull, muted twinge of pain accompanying something thoughtful. ]
Ah, I suppose I should ask if you know what an eclipse is... someone else I spoke to didn't. Maybe I'll write up something, add it to the slideshow... or just post it...
Nope, this'll be the Eudora's first time on this route. We had a neighboring galaxy during the winter tour, and used the month between to do upgrades, construction, and transit to this one.
The planets on this tour are all contracted with Nut & Bolt, though, so other employees and ships in the fleet have been. They're not unfamiliar in that regard.
Not anymore. The 20 members we trained under and worked with over our two months together had a variety of reasons for leaving during that time period.
Promotions, ship transfers, retirement... some just decided to use their vacation time. One is on parental leave, their wife delivered a baby planetside right at the end of the tour. The eight of us volunteered to keep the Eudora company during her system upgrade and the construction.

Say, where is this ship headed right now, anyway?
[ looking out the window, like that might help her somehow. ]

I guess some planets might be different, though...

I think some planets might not have a name for it, but could be that they're also different. But spot on in this case.

I mean like, when you did a tour before. Was it the same route?
