You know the storms and those rifts take you to places where illusions seem real? The weekly effects we go through, too. They're composed of cosmoelectromagnetic waves, so the data pulled from those is used for a lot of things like... OmegaMart items, the Sim Room, and I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of VR uses it to make the experience feel more real.
