the hood falls back, and she startles a little, staring at them... their face, their hair, and then the ears, which send a ripple of pink across the black scales that are crawling up from under her clothes. they kind of match a little? she's got snake scales all across her chest and neck, creeping up her neck and jaw. anyway, the pink flashes, and then settles back to black as she takes in what he looks like.]
... Your hood. [she says, after a moment, a little amused. not that she hates to see him, because he's cute? and has cat ears? but also she thought this was against the rules so she doesn't want him to get in trouble!!]
You're lucky this is distracting enough for me to skip scolding you for not sleeping.

Metis seems a bit taken aback by her own appearance, changes?, the changes, yes. Though he blinks a little, both those ears perking straight up until they flick back as if- embarrassed? abashed? It's hard to say, in which he tugs his hood a little but stops himself, thinking. Then he brings his finger in front of his mouth in a "hush" motion. ]
I will not tell if you don't. [ It sounds airy, like a light joke, but he lowers his arms to settle both hands together over the table's surface. ] The helmets have gotten a bit difficult this week in particular so, if you do not mind, I may leave it off at least here in private.
[ A small laugh at that. ] ..It's strange, it felt before as if I had nothing to do but work and I was all the happy for it. I am trying to catch up on it now though so, I apologize if I continue to be a bit out of sorts.

[ Oh nooo, he watches her do exactly that, and he does his best not to touch her directly but he brings a hand to lightly touch her arm. It's brief and he will drop his hand after, but it's mostly to reassure her on her appearance. It was mere surprise, given he does not look bothered or uncomfortable by the sight. He gives a comforting smile as he continues along their conversation. ]
Haha, it is hardly their fault. If anything, I feel as though we have all been similarly busy and putting in all our hours with work these past few weeks. I just hadn't realized until this moment. Or perhaps it would be better to say my body has.

[ Gingerly his thumb brushes over her knuckles, reassuring, before he raises it up with a tilt of his head. There, paw near his ear, which does flick when her fingers touch the curve of them. ]
the scales are still pink, and she's clearly flustered, but. he says it's alright, so she carefully pets his ear. it seems to make her happy? in fact, the more she does it, the more the scales recede. they're still pink and glossy and bright, but there's less of them. i specifically went to go upload this icon for this thread too.

she's very gentle with it, at least. and after a moment, she hesitates, and then pulls her hand away, even though she is very, very soothed by petting cats. he's a person!! he is not just a pet receptacle!! she is being respectful.

[ He goes quiet, staring off a bit until the cup clatters noisily. With no helmet on, it's a bit difficult to hide the sudden pained expression he has as a hand cradles his own head. Uh oh. ]
[ A breath in, blinking in her direction and a glance down to his right arm, finding it tremble from where it's held. His other hand under hers squeezes it gently until he moves it to grip at that right arm with an almost vice grip. ]
