When the eight of us realized a lockdown was put into order, we all had the same thought of trying to override it. Though that did not go over well as it denied our request despite having clearance from all eight of us to agree to the notion. Which there is only one reason for why it would and that would be because the Eudora detected something wrong.
As for why the ship lock... Amalthea had put it in better words than I ever could. Which is that normally, Nut & Bolt ships will start a lockdown to scan for abnormalities during a lengthy space jump. Abnormalities are rare, but scans are necessary. The lockdown itself keeps certain features online, some stay offline to siphon energy to necessary parts. Lockdown lasts until the morning of the next day and can be prolonged with full permissions.
The one we had experienced is not the norm. It was unscheduled, and not just that but we did not make a space jump. We have surmised that it means that it was a malfunction or that there was an abnormality found within the ship. However, our report has come up empty regarding abnormalities.
As for Mr. Dahut... we can say that his death was not due to any natural cause like sickness. We don't know who or what involved themselves with him, but something happened. And it warrants a proper investigation.
Precisely, due to the ship's preparation for the jump even though it never really did one. In times of long jumps, the ship goes into a mandatory lockdown and requests all crew on board to lie down. It's meant for safety measures and to avoid causing any stress or injury to one's body. Though that's under normal circumstances.
We're looking over proper protocol at the moment for... anything like this. But it's leaning towards likely running some investigations and examinations tomorrow. We would appreciate any help you can lend to that.
...No. What... or whoever did this, this was no mere accident.

I couldn't say for sure. If we had known, I would like to think we could have at least tried but. Wishful thinking. Hopefully Io can shine more light on the matter.
[another while between texts. it might be because she goes and huddles up in bed because she was kind of into the guy and he just had a heart attack in front of her.]

I'm sorry.

What else do you know? Why did the ship lock? Did you all try to change that?
What happened to Dahut?

Why did we pass out? Was it because of the lockdown?

[and then, a few seconds later, another text:]
Was... there anything we could have done for Luke?

Of course. We'll do our best to figure out what happened tomorrow. But, until then, please get some rest.
