[ i'm shaking what does this even mean, was shenhe going to use hotsauce as a utensil
Metis laughs a little at that comment while they lift the tray with their left hand. ]
I certainly have no intention of doing that. [ Come come, they will lead way back to the mess hall to find a table to enjoy lunch. ] It's alright, so long as no trouble comes up until the tour ends we can possibly sway upper management over. A mistake was made somewhere after all.
[I MEANT AS A WEAPON she was gonna use hotsauce as a weapon!!!
she follows! she's actually getting hungry, so this works out for her. also, like i said, she absolutely pouts when she can't take the real knife with her, despite having a whole-ass dagger strapped to her thigh where god and everybody can see it.]
... Even if it's found that this was all a mistake, they'll still make us run the entire tour? [she is Unimpressed.] This sounds less like a job and more like free-range prisoners, you're aware.
[ I DON'T KNOW WHY THAT THOUGHT DIDN'T OCCUR TO ME BUT IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW.
Her pouty... Sorry girl, but at least you come out of this galley with everything else! As they reach a table, they take a moment to set everything out before they wince and there's a dull pain sensation felt. Though, they continue on like nothing happened. ]
We still have work lined up for us, and unfortunately, we cannot skip out on our deliveries. Which we [ as in the Senior Crew ] can manage the work if need be, but a select few individuals have agreed to aiding us despite the mix-up. [ So... ] ...I'm aware it doesn't sound good, and I will continue to apologize for it but, despite our higher rank, there isn't a whole lot we can do ourselves.
anyway it's fine she'll get over it. the... pain sensation? gets her to look a little surprised, though. she sits at the table, watching them move.]
I'm not blaming you. [genuinely! she doesn't think it's worth it to yell at the cashiers, so to speak. she knows they don't set the prices.] Just pointing it out.
[ Their movement seems normal, but their right mechanical arm is notably stiff. Though even that starts to move as normal as possible. Nothing out of place. ]
..I understand. [ Which is said lightly, taking her words as truth. ] Just troubling not having the power to simply fix everything now.
[ A pause. ]
Oh, yes, I'm alright. Might just be nearing that time for a routine check-up.
There's a blip of recognition before they shake their head. ]
Almost, but not precisely. It is not something medicine can treat. More of a... technical routine check-up. [ They hold their hand out, palm up, the mechanical arm sleek and compact as they curl and uncurl fingers for show. ] In the same way bones may not agree with the weather, these upgrades can get a bit uneasy during travel.
[ Their hands come together over the table's surface, sitting straighter with the air of "Everything's fine." ] Nothing some adjusting won't fix.
There's a small pause at that, a synthesized chuckle sounding through their helm. They aren't laughing at her, though! ]
You know, that's a valid question. [ Their hand lingers, pondering for a moment, before they come to take hold of their cup to raise it a little. ] It's faint, but I can feel with it. Not nearly as much as my other arm, of course. But just enough.
[ honestly you're so valid, i almost said wild but no the man that died was wild who let that happen ]
Well, I haven't necessarily lost it. Not yet, anyhow.
[ It almost sounds like they're talking about something, unable to give a more direct answer. A finger taps against their cup. ] Which is precisely why I took the upgrade.
[ Yeah crazy. Anyway, Metis eventually raises the cup up but then stops. As if only just realizing the problem in trying to drink with a helmet in. Hm. ]
It is indeed still my arm. In my case, it's almost more of a... bandage? A supportive cover, of sorts.
[ Technology is wild, but she seems geuninely fascinated and thus they are more than willing and patient to explain it in the best way they can. ]
The technology itself is funded by the company, with the possibility and mere purpose to replace limbs and other parts with upgrades such as these. [ Carefully, they set their cup down and gesture a little with their other hand. ] In my case, my arm was in a state that would have proven to make working rather difficult. So, as a means to help support it, we were able to add onto it with the upgrades.
[ A blip of curiosity. ] It's sometimes a bit hard to wrap one's head around some of these things, but it's interesting to learn what can be done with this kind of technology. Though, at the same time, it's a bit overwhelming, isn't it?
[she is genuinely fascinated! she's never known any sort of tech like this, and she thinks that people like partitio or osvald would love to hear about this when she gets back. maybe even castti.
she watches them, pays attention to how the arm moves, and then:]
... A little. [she says, soft.] But if it helps you, I can't see how it'd be a bad thing.
Are these types of upgrades only available to the senior crew?
No certainly not a bad thing, if you ask any of the Senior Crew you'll actually learn they have their own set of upgrades. All in place to help us where it's needed.
[ Well... ]
Not necessarily. At times, accidents do happen, and once we have our Medbay available we'll be able to provide upgrades to any crew member in need should they need it.
How much? Ah... That would be something Io would be able to tell you precisely. [ This next bit is said with light amusement. ] I'm afraid the healing factors brought by technology is a bit outside my understanding. I'm more familiar with older methods.
[ Even so, they bring a hand to the chin of their helmet. ]
However, if I remember right, it does depend on the amount of time one spends in it.

Routine... check-up? Like with an apothecary?

she looks at the arm, tilting her head to the side...]
I see. [hmmm...] Do... you feel anything, with that arm?
[she kind of understands robots just by having talked to shoma, but.]

Interesting. [...] You can't tell me how you lost it in the first place?
[that seems like a personal question she shouldn't ask]
no subject
Well, I haven't necessarily lost it. Not yet, anyhow.
[ It almost sounds like they're talking about something, unable to give a more direct answer. A finger taps against their cup. ] Which is precisely why I took the upgrade.
no subject
that's. an interesting way to put that. her eyes are drawn to the cup for a moment, and then:]
... The upgrade. [christ she has no idea how technology works.] So - it's still your arm? How did you upgrade it?
[she is so fascinated by this...]
no subject
It is indeed still my arm. In my case, it's almost more of a... bandage? A supportive cover, of sorts.

[ SO LIKE, YOU COULD... ]
no subject
That doesn't surprise me. I've noticed things here and there. [she's observant!
also. she looks sort of like deadeyed for a second at that before:]
... And when will that be available? [some of the people here are going to need it]
no subject
Mm, some are a bit more obvious than others.
[ A light laugh at that question, because well they kinda expected it. ]
That would be next week at the latest, we'll be able to open up more areas along with our arrival to our first destination.
no subject
Good. [...] I - actually had a question about the medbay. How much is it capable of healing?
no subject
[ Even so, they bring a hand to the chin of their helmet. ]
However, if I remember right, it does depend on the amount of time one spends in it.
no subject
[she tilts her head again.]
... I'm unfamiliar with the technology as well. But I'd like to see Viktor heal as much as he can.
no subject
[ Happy to help. ]
I'll make mention to Io then, to check up on Mr. Viktor when the time comes.
