Then how should we start? I don't know much in the way of formalities for this kind of thing. Bedside manner's all I've got going for me.

Well, Io, why don't I introduce myself. [they already know her name, but it's just polite.] I'm Margaret Encino. I'm a former executive with United Free Trade Planets - I'm unsure if you've heard of it, but they're in the trading and acquisitions business. Currently, I'm the co-owner of the Wurst, which is a small freighter class ship with a crew primarily doing contract work.

And I suppose I am now a junior crew member of the Eudora.

Never heard of the United Free Trade Planets... sounds like you've got quite the resume, though.

I do have a question. Worst like... Bad? Or [ tilting head ] Wurst... like a sausage?

[ they tap the bar a couple of times rhythmically and one order of milk slides down the bar into their hand. ]

Both. [but also.] The ship is shaped like a hot dog.

[ ok there is some amusement coming from here. they pop a straw into the milk and will just take a sip under the helmet. ]

Funny. I like that. Sounds like quite the vessel - Eudora's the only one I've ever known, so it's interesting to hear about others...

[bossbabygirl]

If this ship is the only one you've ever known, how did you come on board? Like we did?

[dropoffs]

I was recruited. All eight of us were... we each had our own reasons.

Never seen anything like this before, really. Had to learn first.

[bossbabygirl]

How were you recruited, exactly?

[they trailed off like they didn't want to explain the reasons, but too bad.]

I was approached and made an offer. I admit, I wasn't at my best, but... the knowledge I've gained through all of this would greatly benefit the world I left, stopped in time.

I hope to one day bring what I need back home once I have found it. A cure.

[bossbabygirl]

I see. So you are quite certain that the home you left is stopped in time. That does make me feel better.

It sounds like you've been able to do some valuable research.

[dropoffs]

Yes.

[ unwaveringly. ]

I have. As a doctor... there's plenty of valuable information stowed in the flora and cultures of many planets. I like to learn both the modern ways and the ways that are steeped in deeper history.
