Which probably makes you feel responsible for the others on the senior crew, too. That kind of feeling doesn't really go away, I think. [ it does kind of explain some of how ganymede behaves and talks to people though. ]
I guess there isn't really a way to actually fly while you're part of this tour? What about your old crew...?
It doesn't. We've all agreed that there's no one that's in charge of the group, especially since we're all experienced in our own things, but... none of us have to be in charge to feel responsible for each other.

There's some smaller craft that we use for missions, quick jaunts if we have to pick up something small, but not really with this big ol' girl. My old crew... [ a beat. ] They're working hard, back home. Might be nice to fly with them if I do take that vacation though.

It's just funny, since people keep asking if me or Metis are in charge. Metis is kind of like our HR, if I had to compare something? But I can't really explain HR to some people that come from fantasy worlds and not modern ones.

No, same thing as with you guys. We're too far out from any of our galaxies to be able to relay messages in a timely manner. It'd take weeks, maybe months, to really send anything.
The amount of times I've run into someone who doesn't know what I'm talking about and I have to figure out an equivalent to explain isn't small. But I can't think of a much better comparison either outside of maybe just calling them a mediator.

I was the one that put together the slideshow for you guys, at orientation. I didn't have very long to do it, and I was scrambling trying to figure out how to... not dumb down, we have some really brilliant people on board, but translate it in a way to understand in a short period.

It was just the eight of us for a month, on this big ship. If not for having each other, I feel like we probably would've gone stir crazy.
It wasn't bad. I watched through it a few times to take some notes just in case it disappeared later. I don't know how many other people might've watched it, but it probably helped some.

I hope it did help. I feel like we need to get a few more guides out there, for common terminology, things you or I take for granted... and some ship hacks. Like how to get around the five minute showers, the capsule window settings, things like that. I've tried to make sure people know you can use your I.R.I.S. to change settings in the sim and grav rooms since I suffered embarrassment of being stuck floating and not realizing.

All eight of us have been with the Eudora and the company for three months, but we joined a crew of twenty. Over the two months, it went from 28 of us in total down to us eight due to retirements, transfers... leaves. Someone's on parental leave, actually. We just volunteered for the skeleton crew while the Eudora underwent updates.

It's all trial and error, but it's hard when some people don't know where to start. It doesn't hurt to write new guides, or at least a really brief one-sheet. For all we know people will just ignore the signs and do whatever they want anyway.

Oh, definitely, plenty of people in the universe that pretend they can't read very abruptly even thought they can. Been there, done that. Part of why my profile says I'm proficient in cat herding, I guess.
